Recapping 2015: January and February.

Happy 2016 to you all!! Hope you all had a great first day to this New Year and also a great start to this long holiday weekend. I am not gonna lie, it was a so-so first day of the year for me, since I have had headaches all day, unfortunately. But it also means, it can only go up and get better from here on. Hey, there are still 30 days left in January, after all. I still have a few Holiday and New Year looks to share with you in the next couple of weeks, but I wanted to start this January first post and also the very first post of 2016 with my first recap post of the year we left behind. Today I will cover January and February. =)

January is the first month of the year but since I have been a mom, it is also a month I am very fond of because my daughter Vivian was born on January 19th 2013. So January 19th 2015 marked her second birthday which I shared about here and of course that was my most favorite post from last year during January. Since January is Vivian's birth month, besides her Birthday she was featured 8 other times in Mommy+Daughter posts, in January. Coming right after the big holiday month of December I shared several festive outfits in January featuring lots of Red, Plaid, Leopard, Corduroy and Velvet. For my work looks I shared several Blazers, Sweater Dresses and also some Skirts which I wore with Dark or Opaque Tights and Boots or Booties. It was also a month of recaps. I recapped all of my Favorite Looks from 2014 in several posts. I co-hosted "What Wives Wear" with CARRIE from Curly Crafty Mom and I did that on New Year's day actually, and for two Thursdays in a row I co-hosted "A Labour of Fashion" with my Fashionista buddy LINDA from A Labour of Life. Since I love Plaid which is the quintessential pattern of the holidays I did a fun post I titled Plaid-Happy Beauties where I featured some of my Most Favorite Plaid Looks at the time, from some of my favorite bloggers and 4 ways I have worn my Favorite Plaid Skirt. I also did a Pinterest-Inspired post which ended up being one of my most favorite outfits (outfit #3 below). All in all, I posted 23 times in January and showed you 19 new outfits. One of these posts contained two outfits: a Mom Wear to Work Wear post where I shared two different Buffalo Plaid pieces and also styled my Chanel-inspired Wool Black Blazer both casually and dressy. And, in anticipation to Valentine's Day, in this post I shared two work outfits featuring two different pencil skirts.

Vivian is 2 years old and she wore a custom-made outfit filled with tulle, a tutu and even a feather on her shirt and her hair barrette.

This ended up being my favorite from January because I am wearing a New+Favorite (new at the time) Plaid Peplum Dress. I love this Bodycon Dress and how it looks like a Red+Black Peplum Blouse and a Black Pencil Skirt. I kept the look Black Monochrome on the bottom with Black Opaque Tights and Black Leather Knee-High Boots. The Red+White Bag went perfectly, not to dressy, not too casual - just like the dress. This was one of the posts where we had a Mommy+Me Style post where Vivian matched me in her own Red Plaid Dress. Some of those pictures of Vivian's, we used for our Christmas post cards last year, too.

February of course is the month of Love and Valentine's Day so of course lots of Red and Pink were in order more than usually. Actually I started the month with a "Mom Wear to Work Wear" post where I styled a Baby Pink Cardigan with Chiffon Ruffles as an on-the-go mom and as an office professional. Here is another two-fer post where I styled some Polka Dot bottoms. I also did a Wishful Shopping post featuring Pantone's Color of the year - Marsala. As a matter of fact my Hot Pink Textured Tights, my Marsala Tights and my Marsala Booties made it on the blog several times, this month. And on my third post of February I reached a big Blog Milestone and posted my 1000th post. The Outfit I wore for that post ended up being my most favorite from all this month. And as I said I wore a lot of Red and Pink as you will see on February's Top 5 Looks. I ended up loving this Fun, Bright and Girly Colorblocked Outfit which I actually wore on Vivian's 2nd Birthday to celebrate with her and the little ones in her daycare. I of course matched Vivian in Purple and Yellow. But I saved to post this outfit for February because it is perfect to wear in February during the month of Love. It is definitely Girly and Romantic (Outfit #2 below). I also did a Collaboration Post with Loverly's showing off my favorite Romantic Bridesmaid Dresses. And here I shared my most favorite red carpet looks from The Academy Awards. I co-hosted "All About You" with ZAZ from Mama and More and the Tuesday after that I co-hosted with ANGELA from Reasons to Dress. Just like in January, in February I continued wearing lots of Velvet (showing off some of my Velvet Blazers) and since it was the coldest month of the season you saw some of my wool coats, a few scarves, plaid blanket scarves and even a couple of my hats. Because of Valentine's Day it was a great month to wear Pantone's color of the year - Marsala - so I showed off a couple of my new Marsala pieces. I mixed Stripes+Plaid a few times and in honor of Valentine's I styled lots of dots. I find polka dots to be romantic and girly. And of course I recapped my fun+busy Valentine weekend (picture below). There were 21 posts altogether and 19 new outfits. It seems like 19 outfits a month is the usual for the beginning of 2015. 19 is a lucky number for me after all. Vivian was born on the 19th.

It was a busy and quite warm Valentine's Day weekend filled with birthday celebrations plus a family lunch and coffee by the Adriatic Sea among other things. It was sunny and beautiful and Vivian loved looking at the sea.

This outfit was special. The Pants and Blouse were courtesy of H&M and I wore them to celebrate my big blog milestone - 1K posts. Yes, this is what I wore to post my one thousand post. These leopard velvet pants ended up being my most favorite pants I added to my closet in 2015. The soft ivory silky blouse is demure and lets the pants be the star of the show. I also accessorized with Black Patent Leather Pumps, a Sparkly Black Clutch and a Crystal set of Jewels by White House Black Market. This outfit was a favorite of all of you my readers, for the month of February, also.

So, which of these outfits are some of your favorites, too?
I will show you March+April's Favorites on Tuesday next week. Stay tuned. =)

  9. I'm glad I'm not the only one that still has holiday outfits to show and post. Everyone else seemed to post their holidays looks way before the holidays...and I get that, for it helps people get ideas of what to wear. But I usually only post what I actually wear, after I wear it, so I have a few holiday outfits I have yet to post too! Great summary of outfits for the year. I hope you feel better soon.
