Thursday Moda #143: The Holiday Series 2018, Holiday Winter Wedding.

Happy Thursday you all - the last of this month of November. We are also half-way through The Holiday Series 2018, which is a Holiday-themed, Multi-Post Collaboration I have been doing over the last 3 weeks or so, with my closest blogging friends. Today is post 3 and there are 3 more coming. In case you missed it, the last collaboration of this series featured what we wore or planned to wear for Black Friday. Today however, we are getting all fancy-fancy because seven of us are sharing what to wear to a Winter Wedding, and not just any Winter Wedding but one that falls during these festive Holiday months.

I actually went to a Wedding this November and this is now what I wore. Instead, I had one a lacy fit+flare hunter green mini dress topped with my leopard trench and some velvety pumps. But when I saw both photos submitted by Monica and Jennie (below), I decided to create an entirely-different look. I wanted to wear something red and I wanted it to be festive. Even better that it is in Red+Black since those are the colors of my home country of Albania and it is Albania's Independence Day on November 28th. [Happy Independence Day my Dear Albania!!] So, I came up with this Lovely Outfit made of separates. But I had to photograph it indoors since the weather was not cooperating.

When I think of this time of the year to me festive are things like textures (satin, leather, velvet, brocade, suede, lace or embellishments are some of the examples), glittery things like sequins, fun sparkly jewelry + hair accessories like a stack of bracelets (like I wore) Statement Earrings (like I am wearing) or a Statement Necklace and some patterns like florals, jacquard, leopard and of course plaid. I came up with this Outfit featuring a Midi Flared Vegan Leather Black Skirt (c/o a local boutique), a Fun Dressy Silky Red Tank (from The Limited many years ago) that has a little bit of black lace adorning the sleeves (love the square neck, too) and since it is Winter after all I wore some Thick, Opaque Textured Tights by Loft. My makeup was polished but simple with a neutral-looking Pink Lipgloss. I also wore some Fun Black Statement Earrings by Sugarfix. I stacked together a few bracelets in peach, coral, grey, brown and slate. But I went for a very Simple, Minimalistic Necklace. I wanted some Sparkly Accessories though, therefore I carried this mini Gold Sequined Clutch (perfect for the essentials: lipstick, mascara, a few tissues, cash, credit card, car keys + my phone). I also am wearing Iridescent Sparkly Sandal Pumps purchased last year via To keep myself warm, I would add a nice wool coat, preferably a colored one like mustard, teal, emerald, purple, red or fuchsia. I would also add a dressier type of scarf, like something with metallic thread through it. What do you think of wearing separates instead of a dress to a Winter Wedding?! What outfit to you 'qualifies' as proper for a Holiday/End of the Year Wedding?! Do you think it is OK to wear skirts and pants or are you only on dresses/jumpsuits team?! Let me know in the comments.

But, read on to see what everyone plans to wear for a Holiday Winter Wedding if one came along and how would they style their outfits. I noticed a lot of textured pieces too. I also noticed florals, lace and velvet. Jewel tones too - loving the deep emerald shades. Lastly, I must say I love that Laura like me decided on a 2-piece outfit featuring the most beautiful skirt - my favorite skirt from her closet!
BOJANA Bo's Bodacious Blog "Join me over at Bos Bodacious Blog for a lighthearted look at what weddings in your later 30's and with kids in tow look like.  😊"
AMBER Avec Amber "The holidays are a magical time of the year, bringing families and friends together to celebrate the season. Holiday weddings also hold their own magic, and are a perfect time to wear richer colors like burgundy, emerald, and navy as well as richer fabrics like velvet or brocade!"
SHELBEE Shelbee on the Edge "For my Holiday Wedding outfit, I chose a simple black and white tweed dress but added tall burgundy velvet boots for a holiday feel.  Some pearls, a flower headband, bow gloves, and a furry clutch complete this wintery wedding look. I am comfortable and on trend all at once!"
ADA Elegance and Mommyhood "I actually went to a wedding this November and wore an adorable lace emerald dress but then when I saw Jennie's and Monica's Outfits I decided to show another dressy, fancy outfit that would be perfect for a Holiday Wedding. I mixed an A-Line Leather Midi Skirt with a Pretty Red Top with a touch of black lace. Added some sparkle via my glittery shoes and gold sequined mini clutch and voila!"
JENNIE A Pocketful of Polka Dots "I selected an evergreen velvet swing dress styled with a burnout velvet kimono to wear to a Holiday wedding. The addition of a tassel necklace and criss-cross tights add festive touches, while velvet block heel shoes insure I will be able to dance the night away in comfort."
LAURA I Do deClaire "The holidays are a magical time of year that friends and family come together to celebrate so I can see the allure of getting married during this time. It can be a a fun opportunity to add some festive touches to your outfit, too! I played up the burgundy in my skirt with the lace top and accessories as a nod to traditional holiday colors!"
MONICA Jersey Girl, Texan Heart "I've been wearing a lot of black lately, especially to weddings.  I would have worn black to all of the weddings I went to this year, but the one that I was in required a certain type of dress and color.  I don't know why but I feel like black is just so classy, and it can be gloomy to some people, but if you dress it up right you're good to go!  I mean, at least I have fun colored shoes on right?"

Thanksgiving was last week so the linkup was on the lighter side. I still managed to find some outfits I loved though, including two (Jacqui and Julie) that I think would make great Winter Wedding Outfits, like the ones we are featuring today. The other outfits were on the casual side but I loved them!

This week's featured blogger is the always-stylish, modern, sexy and well-dressed STEFANIE from The Style Safari. Can you believe this mom babe had a baby less than a year ago?! She looks amazing. In her amazingness she linked up this 'Black and White Sheer Set' she wore to a Mexico vacation, recently. This is part of the "Designed by Stefanie" series because this stylish babe is very talented and designs a lot of her own clothes. Now, a sheer, lacy set is not for everyone especially if it exposes the undies but it looks TO DIE FOR on Stefanie. It is modern, light, fun, girly. I love the white piping and the little leafy print was perfect for that amazing desert setting where she shot these photos in Mexio. Love the cactus flowers. Also, this set she designed goes perfectly with the name of her blog "The Style Safari" because of the safari print and the safari vibes of this entire shoot. If you don't follow Stefanie, please do. Her blog is amazing. She always has the most unique clothes whether she purchases them at boutiques or makes her own. Her style is amazing and her photos are magical. She looks like a model!

In her post 'Style Steal' Jacqui looks a little Jackie O (just like her namesake) and totally ladylike in that amazing tweed cropped jacket paired with a pussybow blouse and pretty pleated midi skirt. Love the light neutral grey tonal look, here.
My friend Carrie shared some 'Comfort with These Cozy Slippers'. She looks so cute and cozy in her home and I love the maroon plaid top.
The beaming Linda wore a black+white outfit and shared her 'Thanksgiving Style' looking beautiful in that boho sheer blouse. Love her red leather gloves.
Pam who is a new read to me, linked up her very first style post. This 'Fall Fashion over 50' look is very put-together and I love the pretty fall wreath by her door.
Julie shared a 'Holiday Dress from Eva Trends'. You can never go wrong with a classic lace black dress, for any occasion really, especially in that classy style. Love the pashmina with it for a Winter dressy event this holiday season.

Holiday Gift Guides 2018: Gifts for My Mom.

Today is my second Holiday Gift Guide and I am focusing on a very important person: My Mom. Mothers are awesome and since I have become a mom myself I believe that to be even more true. There is nothing I wouldn't do for my daughter - truth! Regarding mothers I am mainly thinking in terms of two main categories. One category is cozy things like bathrobes, fuzzy warm socks, slippers, a sweater-wearing coffee mug and a splurge-worthy item like a classic crewneck cashmere sweater. But I have also thought about things that a lot of mothers love. My mom loves to cook. She will never turn down a great cook-book, an amazing air fryer, kitchen utensils+gadgets, a great set of knives, beautiful plates, etc. I don't know if you agree with my guide or if you are getting your mothers similar things, but this is my Holiday Gift Guide for my Mom or for any mom in general. Come shop with me!

Monogrammed Bath Robe - get her a bathrobe this holiday season. Better yet make it monogrammed. This one is a great deal, currently on sale.
Cozy Socks - These snowflake beauties are such a steal. N.Y.+Co. has several ones currently and I might pick up a few pairs, for mom and for myself.
Lipstick Set - My mom is a natural when it comes to makeup but she wears lipstick from time to time. With this set of lipstick she would be set for life. Love all these colors, too.
Cute Little Wallet - This looks like a designer wallet. Very well-made and classic+preppy. The price is good too! I know my mom could use a new wallet.
Cutest Sweater Mug - OMG aren't these sweater-topped mugs the cutest?! They are stylish, easy to hold and will keep your fingers warm. Plus so perfect for Winter and what a great price at 5 bucks!
Classic Neutral Leather Tote - Every mom needs a great, classic black leather tote. This is slightly over 200 bucks, from a great brand and I think the price is right. I mean this is totally classy, elegant, chic and timeless.
Suede Ugg(s) Slippers - Everyone knows Ugg's make the best cozy shoes, boots, slippers, you name it. They are especially known for their boots and slippers. Love this loafer-style pair of slippers. Classy, warm, elegant and can be worn outside the house.
Cashmere Sweater - A must in every woman's closet, especially a fitted, crewneck-style cashmere sweater. This is the one splurge item your mom (and mine) need. My mom likes light colors, pastels and neutrals. Lately I have been drawn to these dusty lavender shades a lot. This sweater is beautiful. I know my mom would love it.
Cookbook - My Mom loves, looooves to cook. There are so many great cookbooks out there but I have heard great things about this one. I wish I could learn how to do everything in a square pan. I might have to buy this one for sure.
Pore Refining Cream Mask - These are great for mom to pamper and relax a little. It is a set of 3 for 10 bucks so a total steal, too!
Air Fryer - Once again for those moms who love to cook, prepare food, host dinner parties, etc. My mom uses her air fryer quite a bit. I think she may need an upgrade. This one is large and can accommodate many guests or a big party.

"Skirting the Rules" Linkup: Peppermint Candy Stripes for Christmas.

I don't know how it is the "Skirting the Rules" time again, which means it is the last Tuesday of the month and this is the 11th month of the year, so there is only ONE MONTH left to the year, but the best and most festive month of the year - December. A chilly month, even with white fluffy stuff on the ground, as you can see from my photos, but it is the warmest, coziest month on the inside as we all get festive, put on lights and candles, decorate, etc. Continuing with that festive vibe, my lovely co-host ELSIE from Polished Whimsy and I both are wearing red today and even have Candy Peppermint Stripes on top. It is almost Christmas after all. This outfit is "perfectly themed" this month because I am wearing red and black which are Albania's colors. And November 28th is Albania's Independence Day while the 29th of this month is Veterans' Day. In my opinion though, you can never go wrong with red and black. They are the sexiest colors after all and the most feminine ones, I believe!

This was a work+dinner date outfit (2-in-1, I tell you) featuring this old Red Satin Pencil Skirt I have owned for years (from Arden B) and this Gorgeous Peppermint-Striped Red Button-Down Blouse by Who What Wear from Target. I love the layered bolero part of the top which ties into a pretty statement bow. Also the top part is a wrap style which ties into a bow while underneath it, it's a classic straight button-down. Makes this top beautifully asymmetric yet still classic and elegant for work. I love bows in general but even more so around the holidays. I find them fun and festive. My gorgeous top is almost a year old but I found several beautiful ones with red+white stripes that have interesting bows, ruching and 3D effects. I linked them on a widget, below. I decided to anchor all the red with black, so I wore my Chevron Black Tights by Loft and made my legs look extra long with Faux Suede Black Pumps. My Turquoise Horse Shoe Statement Earrings are by Sugarfix from BaubleBar. I love the unexpected pop of turquoise in this outfit. People usually associate Turquoise Jewelry with Spring and Summer. While that is usually the case, don't refrain to wear it in the Winter. I also added a couple of sparkly bracelets. It is spectacular. My lipstick was a peachy one with a little bit of shimmer. Loved my makeup in general but you can't beat a good hair day. Even with all the wind playing with my hair, my hair still looked good!

Meanwhile, in SoCal where Elsie lives is much warmer so she can still wear short sleeves, bare legs and florals without looking out of space. Love that bright orange pencil skirt and the bubble sleeves of her top. While I went with statement earrings, she chose a statement necklace. Great look! Coincidentally, Elsie wore a floral skirt with a striped top last month, too.

My Dear and Beautiful Friend Lorena is my (absolute) favorite look/outfit that was linked last month. Looking like a million bucks Lorena was dressed to impress as if she was at an 'Awards Ceremony in Cannes'. Dressed in this two-piece gown made of a one-shoulder top and the most beautiful large polka dot maxi skirt which I absolutely love, I would also feel as if I belonged in a famous red carpet walked by Hollywood stars. Very well done Lorena. You haven't looked better!

Now Join our 3rd, NEW and SUPER FUN "Skirting the Rules" Linkup. Isn't the graphic so fun and fabulous!?  I love it!! You can link up any outfits here, not just skirts, but Elsie and I will pick a couple of favorite skirt looks to feature each month! The linkup will be open for an entire month, for your convenience. Have Fun, blog-hop around and meet some other fabulous fashionistas along the way!
