Thursday Moda #148: Currently, January 2019.

I cannot believe I am typing out 2019 today. With that said Happy New Year 2019 Everyone! I hope this year is better than the ones gone and a little worse than the ones coming after it!!

I already have a lot of thoughts and ideas about this year and a lot of them running through my mind this year. I actually planned on doing one more final outfit post for 2018 and then another post on January 1st to wish you a New Year but besides Instagram (from my phone), I haven't touched my lap-top in days and I took a break from blogging, social media and such and I am so glad I did. I decided to be more present, especially since my daughter is off from school and it is so important I spend as much time with her during her vacation, as possible. I haven't even made my rounds of comments or stopped by my favorite bloggers' blogs in days and I feel bad too because I haven't gotten to wish them a Happy New Year... but you know what, it is not the end of the world and those blogs and bloggers will still be there and I am sure they'll understand. I haven't even linked any of my posts in the last 4-5 days or so. As each new year comes, I realize even more how fast time flies and how less and less days we have on this planet, so we need to spend more time with our loved ones and let go of other things. Am I right or am I right?! =D

Today I am back with the monthly "Currently" post that Ann does as a linkup on the first Wednesday of each month and I love all the prompts Ann chose this month too. They suit this very first month of a new year, perfectly!

choosing: Not to spend a lot of money this year. I am very very serious about this and it is my biggest "resolution" of 2019. I put the word resolution in quotation marks because I don't really make them or believe in them. But I know for a fact I need to start saving A LOT and what better time to start than now?! It is a new week, a new month and most importantly a new year. January is the right time to start saving. The last thing I need is any more clothes, shoes and accessories for me and my daughter. I plan on doing a big inventory of her clothes around April for Spring and will see if she needs anything, if her previous war weather clothes all fit, etc. I am putting this here for all of you to read and see and find me accountable. I also plan on staying organized about my finances this year - on what I spend, how I spend it, what money goes into what, how much I save, how much I need for bills, etc, etc.

tidying: I my life. I plan on tidying the major areas of my life. Of course that is connected to number 1 with the finances and saving money. I plan on tidying up my clothes, donating a lot and hopefully saving some. I plan on tidying up my Instagram and Poshmark in hopes of selling some gently-used or never-used-before items, etc. I plan on tidying every closet, every drawer, every dresser, every nook, every storage box. The same goes for all the Christmas decorations, too.

resolving: I got two major things I am resolving too this year. 1) To Be HAPPIER and 2) To Shop My Closet More and More each and every time. I do not bake. These are the two main areas I am making myself responsible to resolve. The correlate to one another too.

exploring: hopefully a couple of new vacation spots. That is one area I wouldn't mind splurging on a little this year. Fingers crossed.

refreshing: My Diet. I really want to start drinking a lot of water again, because I have been bad about it the last couple of years. My goal is to start with 3 full 16 oz, glasses a day and hopefully get to 5 glasses by the end of the year. With that said I want to drink a lot less coffee and opt for hot tea, iced tea or even better water when I usually reach for coffee. I also want to start drinking more water infused with citrus fruits like lemon and oranges and cucumbers. I also want to start eating more apples which I used to eat at least half an apple or an apple a day. I will definitely eat at least one apple a day. After all an apple a day, keeps the doctor away! With that said I will continue to eat all my raw fruits and vegetables and lots of salads like I normally do (with vinaigrette dressings or extra virgin olive oil). Last but not least hopefully less salt. Salt is my vice food-wise as is bread. LOL So hopefully I reduce both (a lot) in my refreshed diet, this year.

Normally, during these Currently Posts I look back at outfits I have blogged from this time of the year on previous years. But since it is a New Year and I already did a recap of My Favorite 25 Outfits of 2018 last week, today I am going through 5 of the most well-liked Outfits by YOU - my readers, my blogging friends. With that said, these five outfits were also some of my most favorite looks I wore in 2018. Here we go:

A Super-Chic Head to Toe Black Look. This would be perfect for a weekend night out, a date, a Birthday Party even New Year's Eve. Add a blazer on top and you got a chic, elegant, professional business outfit for the office, too. Make no mistake this outfit will be on repeat for 2019. I may only change the pumps or the bag and probably different jewelry too.

As the title indicated I blogged this outfit in February in a multi-blogger collaboration I did with my blogging friends where we wore red dresses because a 'Red Dress' symbolizes "Women's Heart Disease" month which is in February. February is also the month of love and in actuality I wore this outfit on Valentine's Day (in the evening) when I went out. I love the fun square-shaped net part of this Michael Kors Dress on top. It is such a Flattering Red Dress and I plan on wearing it again this year. I also love ALL the accessories I paired this beautiful dress with. And that Patent Leather Teal Clutch made an appearance this New Year's Eve (2 nights ago) where I wore it with yet another Dressy Red Outfit! When I posted this exact photo on Instagram this past year, it was also one you loved a lot and it made top nine or the best 9 of Instagram so clearly both my blog and Insta readers/followers loved this look.

Thursday Moda #136: Office-Style Dresses, 2 Bloggers - 2 Ways. {October}

This is hands-down my favorite dress or sheath I wore in the last year. This dress is so elegant, sophisticated, classic and classy, but I can see a little 60's retro flair to it too. I styled it very simply in a classic way with Classic Black Leather Pumps, Simple Bracelets, Colorful Little Beaded Hoops and a Black Suede Handbag. I wore it to work in early October and it was 80 degrees out. Again one of the dresses I look forward to wearing the most, this year.

This outfit was a hit with you all. It is one of the 5 outfits that were a part of "The Holiday Series 2018" with my other blogging friends. This was my choice on what I'd wear to a Holiday Winter Wedding and you liked that I didn't go for a 'typical' dress which is unlike me too. Instead I chose a Lace-Trimmed Red Dressy Tank paired with a Faux Leather A-Line Midi Skirt, Textured Tights, Sequined Gold Mini Clutch, Sparkly Heels and Statement Earrings.

Another dress you loved that I wore last year, was the dress above with the brocade silver roses. Yes this dress is as elegant and classic as the tweed sheath (a little bit above this one) but it also has a little retro flair to it. Again, I can see the 60s as well as the 90s in this dress. I paired it with another Rose Gold Sequined Mini Clutch and my Blush Velvet Strappy Pumps. I chose a pair of Grey+Champagne Stone Statement Earrings and a Clear+Rose Gold Crystal Necklace. I loved that I chose fun, fancy, bold jewelry with this look. It was for New Year's Eve, after all.

Last but not least I have my Thursday Moda Favorites as usual and I didn't do any last week so today I rounded it up to 10 favorite outfits. Some of these are from last week and some are from more previous week. The linkups were a little lighter than usual due to the holidays. But still, so many pretty looks and so many Holiday-Inspired Outfits. But I noticed that the outfits last week were dressier which makes sense because you ladies were getting ready for New Year's Eve. While the outfits of the week before were still festive but on the more casual side with lots of Christmas parties in mind. This week my eyes went to all the pretty coats, jackets and coatigans.

The Featured Blogger again is my dear and super stylish mother + friend KATHRINE of Kathrine Eldridge who actually is a personal stylist and by seeing her outfit and her style I can totally see why. Last week she linked two stunning black monochromatic dressy New Year's Eve Outfits and they were both so beautiful, both featuring a peak of sheer lace on top - love those shoulders+sleeves. The Boho Feminine New Year's Eve Look mixed textures, patterns and materials like Swiss dots, suede, paisley and snakeskin for a very polished outfit that is both dressy yet feels casual. But the Black Lace Romper is my favorite. Not only is a stunner designer romper with the one-full flower lace sleeve but it is also sexy, feminine, unique and perfect to ring in a new year. Plus it suits Kathrine like a glove. And I love the peak of color via those designer patent leather pumps. By looking at these two outfits alone, I can tell Kathrine will have a super stylish year ahead. Make sure you follow her - one of my absolute favorite ladies and bloggers.

'Leopard Print Cardigan' in gray with black spots, is a winner for stay-at-home mom Rachael who is always very put-together and stylish. Love the light distressed jeans and those booties.
Jen says 'Merry Christmas' in this deep purple midi dress that flatters her. Always a fan of oxford booties, I just love hers! Very put-together.
I never thought of wearing a 'Flared Sleeves Dress' with a cozy, oversized grandpa cardigan, but Nancy teaches me how. Love her layers and shades of mustard and olive. Very Winter Bohemian!
'Shopping My Closet' is one of my biggest goals of 2019 and I am glad Mariah shopped hers. You can never go wrong with a classic sleeveless LBD especially paired with nude pumps and a nude clutch. She looks divine!
Fonda shared '3 Cozy Winter Must Haves' and I just love her super soft-looking vest and that cute hat.
Always a babe style-wise and a lover of both dresses and bright colors, Shauna wore the 'Colors of the Season' and I am torn whether I love the emerald green teddy coat or that beautiful wrap-style dress, more.
Lydia pairs her 'Always Winter Whites' culotte pants with a black mock-neck top, classic black pumps and a very fresh+modern and totally IN Glen Plaid blazer. I love the knotted belt on that beautiful blazer.
Another gorgeous coat but this time vintage is worn by my friend Debbie in an edgy look complete with torn jeans and 'Blue Velvet Boots'. I love all the blues+purples, here.

Overall, my favorite outfit months as far as outfits go (in 2018) were February, July and August. To see a more thorough recap of ALL of my Favorite Outfits, read this post and let me know what you think. =) I appreciate it!

  5. Fantastic goals for the new year, Ada! I started the healthier diet, less coffee, more water path right before the holidays and I am so pleased with the results, but was kind of bad the past week or two. Time for me to get back on that track because I feel great when I consume healthier foods. And cleaning out my close it a goal of mine as well, but I am sure I will keep pushing that one back in favor of less overwhelming goals! Wishing you all the best in the New Year, my friend. May it be filled with love, peace, joy, and laughter.

  8. Dear Ada, you have very clear goals which is a good start.
If I may say,I have been working on my finances this year too, with good results. I can recommend that every time you make a payment to your credit card you LOWER the card's limit to that amount. For example, if you owe 4,000.00 USD and you pay 300.00 USD towards the card that month, then you ask the bank to lower your credit limit to 3,700.00 USD and you keep on doing that month after month. Trust me, it works.
