The Sunday Showcase, December 2020 (holiday edition) - Styling One-Another for the Holidays.
Happy Sunday you all! First, I apologize about my pictures today and their quality. Mireille with whom I do these Sunday Showcase collaborations knows the struggles I have had with my phone over the last 2-3 months. I was dealing with a full memory, plus I think the camera got bad and an awful quality of photos in the process. However, I got a brand-new iPhone 3 days ago and my quality of pics will totally improve, promise! I did a big upgrade you all. Anyway, this is our first Sunday Showcase for December and since this is a big holiday month, we decided to run one every week on Sundays for the next 4 weeks. They are all holiday-themed too, Mirei and I have some great collaborations coming your way, starting with this one where we style one-another. I had a brilliant idea for Mirei and I to do a style post entirely based on items/outfit pieces we would purchase from one-another from Target and she loved this idea when I brought it up to her a little over a month ago. As a matter of fact I have had this idea in my mind since two holiday seasons ago and almost did it last year with a blogger but it didn't end up becoming a done deal. However here is MIREILLE of Chez Mireille and myself picking an outfit for each other and styling it two ways on our blogs today - love that Mireille suggested we try styling these pieces two ways.
We gave each-other a $70-75 budget so we had room for tax too. I went a little over budget, though I got most pieces when they had one of their little sales, but it's OK. I am glad to see these pieces on Mireille and I felt like I was shopping for myself because we wear the same size/s, though I am a couple of inches taller. I purchased the black silky midi skirt, the mustard yellow textured blouse, beautiful sparkly statement earrings, her black+snakeskin purse and a bold red lipstick. While Mireille purchased for me this emerald green dress in a muted leopard print (I love it and it suits me I think), dangly rose gold leaf earrings and the snakeskin bag that you can carry by the handles or as a crossbody. Mireille and I tend to think alike a lot of times. I love that we both chose snakeskin purses though different ones and also we both chose one piece of jewelry and that piece was earrings. First, I will show you how we styled these outfits like the other blogger pictured us and secondly we will style our looks on our own, making these Target pieces more our own.
LOOK # 1.
First, here is how Mireille would style me or something similar to what I put together. I asked Mirei how she pictured me in this dress and she mentioned layers and booties. I still stayed true to myself while belting the dress with a belt from The Limited I have had forever and to mix the double leopard prints, I added a black+white leopard grandpa cardigan (Target). I went full-on pattern here because those black opaque tights (from Victoria's Secret) have white pinstripes and let’s not forget the snakeskin bag. For this outfit I put on the dangly leaf earrings Mirei gifted me. By the way, I kept both of these outfits head to toe Target because these black suede wedge oxford booties are also Target, just like the boots in the next look. And it's hard to tell but with this outfit I applied a more nude/taupe look while the other one I have on a bolder, darker, magenta lipstick. Oh and this particular outfit is 2-in-1 because you can wear it with that cardigan over the dress or simply belted, minus cardigan, which look do you prefer?
First of all, so happy to see Mireille so dressed up - totally my jam, especially for the holiday season and I love seeing her in a bright red lip and some sparkly statement earrings (she usually wears her bold leather earrings which I love). What I noticed right away is that she belted her blouse with a wide belt like I did with my dress, in the outfits we each styled like the other blogger wanted to. =) I told you we tend to think alike, a lot! Here is what Mireille had to say about this:
"When Ada suggested shopping an outfit for each from Target for our December Sunday Showcase, I loved the idea right away. Seeing what someone else would choose for you is my idea of fun! When I received my package, I opened it with excitement. We decided on style the oufit and accessories 2 ways, one being the way the other envisioned it and then how we would style it without a prompt.
Ada wanted me all fancied up and even sent a lipstick so I donned on my eye makeup and applied the lipstick. I think this is the 2nd time this year that I wore makeup! My dressiest black shoes are my heeled booties and I added a belt to give the fun mustard blouse more shape and dress it up. I love the sheen of the velvet skirt and that the pieces can be worn as an outfit and separately to create endless outfits. The earrings were different than anything I have and I received several compliments the first time when I wore them. They sparkle and look great with everything! Great job styling me Ada!"
I am glad Mirei wore this look to her church and she looks like a million bucks! Oh and I love the location of her photos, beautiful building!
LOOK # 2.
I love that Mirei selected this lovely babydoll Knox Rose emerald dress for me because I think it is totally my style. Everyone knows I love dresses and skirts and wear them often, plus I love showing some leg. I am in a size XS by the way and thankfully it fit and it's not too short either. For 'my way' I decided to style it in a sexy, glam way with matching emerald green statement earrings instead of Mirei's earrings and my taupe faux suede tall ruched boots also from Target. I also carried the bag by its straps not crossbody as I think it is dressier this way. These heeled taupe boots matched her snakeskin bag she chose for me, perfectly. I love dressing up in general, especially for the holidays, so this outfit is very me! Something I would totally wear for the holiday season for sure and pair with nude skin-tone tights/hose underneath because let's face it: Midwest Winter lol. Do you like this short babydoll dress paired with tall boots?! I have linked the exact dress (it also comes in burgundy with a textured sparkly gold stripe design), the exact filigree earrings and the exact snakeskin purse, on the widget below. I also linked my taupe faux skin tall Lainee Boots which are currently on sale for like 35% OFF and they come in 3 or 4 colors. Make sure you see the deets of her outfits on Mireille's post too.
Fact: I almost bought the emerald version of this blouse for myself, but I have a silky emerald blouse and a silky mustard one too. This color looks so great on her and I love the way she styled this down, yet is still dressy and put together. Those Target booties we both own match her new darling purse, perfectly and her accessories match the pretty leaf wreath too. And speaking of home decor, I own the same rug, my friend. Here is Mirei's say on this outfit:
"For my second outfit I dressed down the look a little by knotting the shirt. The fit of the blouse is boxy so after trying different things like tucking it in, I found that I like it best with a belt or tied at the waist. It would look cute under a black vest too with jeans! I switched the shoes for my snakeskin booties therefore doubling the print factor as you might have noticed in the crossover clutch. Funny how we both chose a snakeskin accessory for each other. We have found that we often think alike!"
My Favorite post from November's Sunday Showcase was Nancy from Nancy's Fashion Style rocking her Jeans! She styled classic blue jeans with slight distressing paired with a plain white tee but kept it festive and holiday-ready with that long red floral kimono (which I love) and the fun red booties - neither are plain or boring. And I love Nancy's fun pose!

I really love your outfit with the taupe boots (which I am going to have to get after my shopping hiatus in December lol). Jewel tones are truly gorgeous on you! This was a very fun collab as it is always interesting to see how each of us thinks! I will be pairing the blouse with denim next and that skirt is really going to be good for around the holidays. Looking forward to the rest of our Sunday posts: I need to get started with pictures this week.

What a fun idea! I really like the way you styled your baby doll dress with the tall boots and I love how you put Mireille together - you are right, she looked like a million bucks!

I love this shade of green on you, Ada! What a pretty dress and what a super fun collaboration idea! I like the dress styled both ways. The cardigan gives it a more casual feel while unbelted and no cardigan is a bit dressier. But both ways work really well!
