Thursday Moda #230: Dressing Up Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

As you are about to read this post, super early this morning while it is still pretty dark out, I will be at the hospital getting a mammogram. This is the first time ever I am getting a mammogram done, since this year I qualified for it (you usually have to be 40 to get one done, unless you have breast cancer history in your family, like your mother, sister or grandmother, aunt). But I am glad I scheduled my mammogram this year, because breast cancer is no joke and it is unfortunately a very common disease among women and it can affect women as young as 21 years old, which is scary. Plus Breast Cancer Awareness is a cause very close to my heart and in honor of it, today myself and my very old and dear Canadian friend LINDA from A Labour of Life are styling pink to honor October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And not just any pink, dressed up in gorgeous dresses. I absolutely loooooove her stunning, feminine, blush pink chiffon midi dress with all the embroidered flowers - and there are 3 more shades of pink in that floral. Glad to be co-hosting Thursday Moda with Linda, today. =)

As you can tell from these photos my hair is very dark, my usual brownish-black color. That's because these outfit photos are exactly 2 years old. A Throwback Thursday if you will. For a weekend night out in Detroit, I wore this short-sleeve fitted hot pink scuba mini dress with the most gorgeous laser-cut detail on the neckline, hemline and sleeves. This is definitely one of those dresses that stands out because of the bold neon pink color. It is between a neon pink and a neon coral and I love it! I styled it with low block-heel black suede sandals (they have a metallic gold line going around the heels like piping). The little gold from the sandals matched this collarless ochra velvet blazer from Loft - which I have had for a few years and wear all the time, my favorite Loft blazer up to date. I carried a little faux snakeskin from Target for the win and I accessorized with blush pink flower stud earrings, my Taupe sunglasses from Loft and a coral-pink glossy lipstick that matched my dress beautifully. Oh and this fun+chic scuba mini-dress that doesn't wrinkle is from Dillard's.

Linda was one of those lucky people who was able to attend a wedding this year and this gorgeous floral piece with the matching dress is what she wore. Oh and I noticed her blush pink flower stud earrings are almost identical to mine. I had invited her originally for the Fall Wedding post that I shared yesterday but unfortunately she couldn't e-mail me on time. Here is what Linda had to say about her outfit:
"I was so excited when Ada asked me to participate in the Fall Wedding Post. Weddings have not been happening around here much but coincidentally a dear friends anniversary was this week. One year ago we attended a beautiful fall wedding. I wore my H&M floral dress and a fun fluffy hairstyle. My Yosa necklace was the perfect accent and of course great arm candy with Kent by my side. Nude heels completed my fall look."

Last week the over 50's group of fashionistas killed! I noticed early Fall layers and beautiful tone-on-tone monochromatic looks. This week what I noticed from my favorites were gorgeous footwear and so many nice purses.

'Turning Sixty - No Big Deal!!' and it shouldn't be! Not when you look as good and youthful as Allison does. She could pass for 40 in that stunning off-white ruffled maxi dress!
Designer and Blogger Nora looks super elegant in her 'Black and White with a Splash of Color'. That color: a vibrant shade of lavender! I am in love with her tweed blazer, the stunning black tote and those classic black pumps!
In tone-on-tone shades of white and blush, the always sophisticated Tatiana looks so cool in a 'Sporty Chic Look' with the most beautiful white pumps, chic rose gold crossbody and fun filigree earrings.
We all love Lucy, especially when she continues to look adorable as she did in her latest 'Fashion Styling' of camel and gold shades. Isn't that adorable cargo-pocket leather mini skirt the cutest?!
Last but not least, Nicole showed us 'How to Look Modern in Persian Pickles' which I learnt means paisley. Her paisley dress and fur sandals are perfect for Fall and I love that Nicole's accessories are in millennial pink - perfect for October's Breast Cancer Cause.
