The Sunday Showcase, October 2020 - Styling Kimonos 2 Ways for Fall.

Happy October - one of my favorite months ever and most definitely my most favorite month of Autumn! This month for The Sunday Showcase my mama friend MIREILLE of Chez Mireille and I are styling kimonos for Fall (early to mid Fall), and between the both of us we are styling kimons 4 ways: we each got a casual outfit and a dressier outfit for you, so you got lots of inspiration going. I wanted to challenge myself on this one - I picked the theme - since I don't own, neither do I wear a lot of kimonos. This is probably the second kimono I ever owned and my favorite one, though it is definitely a bold piece that stands out, between the length, the colors+print and of course the sleeves that definitely remind me of the Japanese style kimonos. This kimono is by the Who What Wear line at Target and I have had it in my closet for over 3 years now. I love it! I even got a black dress in an identical print and material from this collection.

STYLING  KIMONOS  FOR  FALL  -  DRESSY  LOOK.
I will start off this post with my favorite outfit of the two, where I wore this gorgeous long, silky, Japanese-style rose print burgundy kimono over a very simple, t-shirt, black midi dress by Target. Target has these dresses currently, a lot of bloggers and influencers own the infamous camouflage midi t-shirt dress like this. This LBD is a little blank canvas and you can totally wear it any season. For Fall I paired it with this bold burgundy-patterned kimono and a matching floppy hat purchased last year during the NSale. The coordinating matching black rose-printed belt (same rose print as the dress) is the belt that comes with its matching dress that I mentioned a little bit earlier. I added a lot of bangles and bracelets on both hands that totally matched every piece in this outfit, plus the light tortoise hoops. Loved the way this outfit turned out, what about you?! It is my favorite outfit of the two, though I love the casual look, too.

My friend Mirei looks like a million bucks on this date night look she created. Not only do I love her long mustard kimono with the intricate detail on the hem and sleeves, I love the patterned Black+White Dress and that stunning colorful clutch that features both stripes and flowers. The clutch matches even-though it clashes with the print of her fabulous dress. The suede booties are sexy!

STYLING  KIMONOS  FOR  FALL  -  CASUAL  LOOK.

For the casual look I went for skinny-fitted black jeans, a fitted, seamless white tank top - both of these pieces (white tank and black jeans) are a blank canvas for this outfit, just like the little black dress was for the dressier outfit. Neither the jeans or tank top are special enough, yet they are wardrobe essentials. It is truly the bold, beautiful rose kimono, the matching jeweled velvet headband and those stunning mustard wedges by Marc Fisher who make this look! I am also wearing a pair of acrylic and gold-toned earrings by SugarFix via BaubleBar. And I must say I love how my gorgeous outfits, both of them match the background - the flowers in front of my home are the perfect match for both outfits!

In this outfit Mirei chose another kimono. We both noticed how many similarities we had in both looks. Like for example her second kimono is a floral burgundy one like mine. Plus we dressed them down with skinny jeans and tees and dressed them up with dresses. Great minds think alike! We also paired burgundy and mustard in our looks. And Mirei doesn't know but our outside door Fall wreath is almost identical to hers! You can check both of Mireille's Outfits in more detail by seeing her post, today. I want to thank her also for doing such a great job with these collages!

My Favorite Fashionista from last month is Dear Darlene who linked up not one but three fabulous looks and I loved all three. At first my most favorite one was 'The Duster Length Cardigan for Fall Style' because I love long cardigans like these (I own a lot from Loft, Target and a few other stores) and I love lace-trimmed silky camisoles and her floral one is so pretty (I buy most of my camis like these at Abercrombie), so this is an outfit I would totally wear and a very chic mom babe look too, for me. Then I saw that stunning red floral kimono she linked up for which I also complimented her on, in her post. Who doesn't like to 'Add a Pop of Color with a Red Kimono'? I certainly do, especially since red is my favorite color and I love pretty floral prints. I also thought this very put-together look with her pretty kimono is so appropriate to feature in my post today, since Mirei and I are styling kimonos! You will see more of Darlene in my blog next week, stay tuned! =)

  2. I really love the rich colors in your outfits! That is one beautiful kimono! I love both of these outfits and would wear both! I actually can probably recreate them with my kimono and similar things in my outfit. Beautiful choices! Beautiful garden by the way: I love seeing it throughout the seasons.

  6. Your robe is so fun and it matches the hat and headpiece so well! I have a very similar one, but in blue and it's always nice to swap out from my daggy cosy dressing gown to it in summer - I just need a light cover up for around the house when the aircon feels too cold, haha!

Hope that you had a great weekend :) Thanks for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup!
