Thursday Moda #217: What to Wear to a Summer Wedding.

I have never, ever shied away from a red dress, especially for a special occasion, even more so for a wedding. As I was looking through photos before I started writing this post, I saw that I have worn Little Red Dresses to 4 weddings: 3 Summer Weddings and 1 Winter/Holiday Wedding. Today I did it again - both Vivian and I - we wore+styled Beautiful Red Dresses to a Summer Wedding, for a June 2020 Wedding to be exact - thankfully weddings can be held again in most states as long as the capacity is small and all the proper rules are followed. And once again, for this Summer look post, I invited my mama friend MIREILLE from Chez Mireille for the third week in a row, to co-host Thursday Moda with me. Plus, I have been doing these "What to Wear to a (Summer/Fall/Winter/Spring) Wedding" collaboration posts since 6 years ago with other blogging friends and I miss them. Coming back from our "Ravishing Red for Summer" post, I think this post came at the right time since I featured a casual little red dress last week (in a lavender+white+blue floral print). Mireille too has some red in her Dressy Summer Wedding Outfit today - love those bright tropical flowers in her elegant sheath.

WHAT  TO  WEAR  TO  A  SUMMER  WEDDING.
What to Wear to a Summer Wedding?! How about a bold, crisp, fun, modern, classy yet sexy little red dress?! Mine is in a well-made ponte material (it is from Nordstrom) and I love the asymmetric style on both the strapless neckline and on the hemline. It is fun, cheery, beautiful and different. Coincidentally the name of this dress is "Queen of the Hearts"! I styled it with gorgeous diamond-shaped silver pave statement earrings I have had forever (from Arden B.), two silver pave bangles by David Yurman (one is with crystals and one with pearls) and two sterling silver rings (one is the infinity sign and the other one is two pave crystal circles). I did my own hair and makeup and I think I did a pretty good job. I almost never overdo the makeup, but for a special occasion I went a little bolder than usual, complete with fuchsia lips. I curled my hair and clipped a gorgeous leaf-shaped pave crystal barrette by Ann Taylor. Little Vivian matched mommy in her own red dress. She looked like a princess in that 3D rosette ballgown with little sequins all over. I curled the bottom of her hair a little and I added a deep red satin bow clip to her hair. For her footwear we chose faux suede little perforated oxford shoes by Old Navy paired with white lace-trimmed socks - together they were both girly and classic yet modern and a little edgy. Sweet Viv accessorized with one of mommy's gold necklaces, too. She looked gorgeous! Especially on the photos next to the red roses in our front yard. What would you wear to a Summer Wedding?! Did I overdress?! Do you have any Summer Weddings coming up this year?! Do you like our Red Dress Summer Wedding Looks today?! Do you own a Little Red Dress?!

I love that Mireille showed us two options: the dressier version above where she styled her black+pink sleeveless sheath with neutral wedge sandals and this halter-style maxi dress with the fun blue chevron pattern, on the bottom. Choosing black strappy sandals for the maxi dress rather than wedges, dresses up the look and it is totally appropriate for a Summer Wedding. Which of her two looks is your favorite?! Stop by her post to see all the details.
Almost exactly 8 years ago to the date, I wore a very similar asymmetric red cocktail dress to one of my best friend's weddings, back in Tirana ALBANIA. This is a little satin number by The Limited and I love the ruching detail. I paired it with crystal drop earrings, a few crystal bangles, a silver cubic zirconia bracelet and a gorgeous, bold, large, rose pave silver cocktail ring by White House Black Market. Just like this June, I also wore gold leather stiletto sandals, however I had my hair up in a classic style. Fun Fact: I was 7 weeks pregnant with Vivian, here.

  4. Wow,, once again, red is YOUR color, Ada! I totally agree that one should wear something bold-- especially now as we venture out! I used to wear red on purpose so I could stand out in a sea of black! Lol! Vivien is adorable in red, too!
