Everyday Faces - Poetry. Plus Linkup.
A fresh, brand-new poem I am writing right now, it is coming your way. It is about people, everyday life, humanity, demons we all fight, etc. One of my favorites I have written in the last couple of years. Enjoy it!!
EVERYDAY FACES - POETRY.
(June 23rd 2021, 6.35 AM Eastern Time.)
Everyday faces going to everyday places,
some wear glasses, some wear braces,
some hold a hot cup of coffee in their hand,
some have spilled coffee in their shirt...
Some are rushing into the morning subway
leaving behind their kids on a busy Monday,
dressed up for work yet a little disheveled,
ready to start a new week both bothered and unbothered...
Some are going into class for the first time,
starting college life at eighteen,
ripped jeans, fitted tees and big sunglasses,
backpacks filled with new books and colorful stationeries...
Some are running late as always, they missed the bus,
they woke up late, their car won't start or traffic sucks,
makeup undone and hair half a mess,
their button-down shirt is untucked, not pressed...
Everyday faces going into everyday places,
some fighting demons, some filled with happiness,
someone spots a brand new rock in her left hand,
as she admires the sparkle, she smiles ahead...
Some are reading the morning paper
as the train goes by each station,
several people get out and more get in,
it is 7.40 AM and the sun hasn't fully set in...
Some today are starting a brand new job,
dressed up in their best pencil skirts and suits,
sleek black pumps and shiny patent leather loafers,
manicured hands, fresh makeup and hair coiffers...
Some are crying underneath their sunglasses,
life isn't always peaches and roses...
Some have bruises from a long time ago,
some have pain in their hearts and bitterness in their soul...
Everyday faces going into everyday places,
what could be hiding behind their glances?
What bothers them on the inside,
what are they hiding behind the blink of their eyes?!
An old man smiles and smells like cigars,
a toddler is unwrapping the paper of a candy bar,
a baby starts crying as soon as they wake up,
a mom that seems tired, sleepless and left aside...
A couple that is arguing though they are not being loud,
as a ten year old stares at them feeling annoyed...
A woman dressed in a sexy little black dress
as a blue-eyed man stares at her trying to impress...
Everyone is going somewhere, doing something
yet deep inside everyone is hurting...
Even the happiest smile might have a hole,
life is full of shit, we simply have to go on...
