The Fab 40s - Birds of a Feather. Plus Linkup.

Today, the Fab 40s group and I are back and the focal point of our outfits are BIRDS. That's because the metaphorical theme of this month's style challenge is called "Birds of a Feather", smartly chosen by Shelbee. You can interpret this theme many ways: choosing bright bold colors of several birds like peacocks, toucans, humming birds, ducks and flamingos; wearing something with a bird on it - like I chose to do; doing an artistic version of the look with artsy prints; or something with actual feathers or a feather print. You can also feature a sibling or a twin like Daenel did, totally birds from the same feather. If you like fun fashion challenges, you can join ShelbeeSuzy and Daenel in this collaboration that we do the last Monday of each month, we each rotate the themes/challenges for our outfits. And we have so much fun with it!!

BIRDS  OF  A  FEATHER.
For my "Birds of a Feather" challenge I indeed went literal and wore a bird lol. My gorgeous bird sweater is from Old Navy. I bought it the Summer of my maternity leave, back in 2013 when Vivian was a baby. Old Navy had the prettiest animal intarsia sweaters back then and I purchased all three: this bird one, the fox one and the owl one. I love how light this sweater is - the perfect Spring sweater - and the cream color is beautiful, makes the bright colors of the bird stand out even more! It looks so good with the light cream moto jacket on top - by Abercrombie - from last year. The skinny jeans/pants are the infamous Rockstar jeans by Old Navy while my cute, buckled, strappy, pointy black flats are by Steve Madden. I ended up wearing this outfit a couple weeks ago, on Saint Patrick's Day and even-though I didn't go with a full-on cheery, bright green in my look, I do have on quite a bit of green in small doses. Besides my olive green skinny pants I have on olive green flower studs (by Loft) which match the pants perfectly; plus my bird is colorblocked in bright green, teal and bright blueish-green; last but not least I have on 3 beaded bracelets in different shades of green. This outfit is the perfect example of "Shopping My Closet" because of these pieces are old, the only new-ish thing is the little moto jacket (purchased last Summer). I am loving this neutral combo of olive and cream too and I will pair these colors again. I am thinking this cute moto jacket over one of my olive dresses or jumpsuits, what do you think?! I have linked the current version of the Rockstar Old Navy olive jeans, some gorgeous bird sweaters and other cream intarsia sweaters, plus similar beautiful+cozy moto jackets and similar black Mary Jane flats.

When your outfit blends in with the background of Mother Nature. It was such a beautiful day that day.

The Fab 40’s is a group of four fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme with the goal of taking on style trends and showing how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With four widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after the age of 40.

Let's take a closer look to what my friends wore. Everyone interpreted this fun, satori-cal theme very differently. I love Suzy's look. It is monochromatic yet bold with that to-die for tie-dye top!

Daenel went for it literally and introduced us to her fabulous, just-as-stylish twin sister in her post. Love this photo of her and her fraternal twin matching. One can never go wrong with an off-shoulder black top and medium wash blue jeans that fit well. Go read her post where she talks about how similar or different she is to her twin.

Like I said, I am in love with Suzy's outfit. Her take on the birds challenge is an interpretation of art. Under different lights (indoor or outdoors) her tie dye top looks either navy with baby blue or black with gray.

Last but not least, the challenge chooser Shelbee went for a fit+flare swan-print dress and added lots of feathers via that fabulous red fascinator. This black+red look is flirty and fun with a lot of retro fabulosity!
