Thursday Moda #245: My Layered Winter Uniform.

Happy Thursday Moda Day! Is it cold where you guys live?! We have had a very cold font here for the past week - all of Midwest actually - lots of low temperatures (below 20 degrees most days) and several days of snowing and even frozen rain. Early mornings are brutal, getting the car ready for dropping Vivian off to school, trying to keep warm, cleaning up all the snow and defrosting the car. Every now and then we have hours of sunshine though and the sun definitely warms things up a little, despite a wintery white background behind us. The day I took these photos - last Saturday when we celebrated Vivian's birthday at home with immediate family - was one of those days, the sun was out. So taking these photos only with my cardigan and my silky blouse and no coat on top was doable. 10-15 minutes outside under the sun, despite temperatures of around 31-33 degrees, is something my body could handle. I have lived in Michigan half of my life after all, I am used to the cold. I don't love it, but I am surely used to it.

MY  LAYERED  WINTER  UNIFORM.
I spoke about my Winter Uniform on my Instagram post this morning. That casual Winter uniform consists of skinny jeans or leggings, a long-sleeve tee or blouse, a long open cardigan, booties or boots and more often than not a warm felt hat. I posted a very similar look on my Instagram this morning - it was from exactly a year ago, from January 2020 before the world of Covid started - and today I am blogging an almost identical outfit, slightly dressier. This time instead of a long-sleeve tee I opted for a blouse - this black blouse with a dark floral print is the perfect Winter pattern, it is chiffon and I like the high mock neck and all the frilly details (it is current by Loft) - underneath one of my many cozy long cardigans. I own 3 chenille cardigans which are the same as this blush pink one but the other 2 are in an ochra color and an eggplant color. This mauve-ish pink cardigan however is the most worn cardi out of all my chenille cardigans (I have had it for 4 years now). It is also by Loft, so so soft, very pretty, feminine and versatile. I love the color, it is one of those pinks that is appropriate for all seasons and it is pretty much a neutral - honestly this shade of mauve pink goes with anything. The faux suede laceup bootie shoes are from a few years ago from H&M and both the pink of cardigan and the burgundy from the shoes pick up the colors in the blouse a little bit. Last, I accessorized with one of my hats - the latest one in my collection. This new ivory or cream hat is also chenille, like the cardigan. It is a gorgeous Target find. Love the little suede bow and the cream color matches those pearl studs perfectly. I linked the exact same hat in the widget on the bottom of this post plus many cute other hats and similar cardigans and blouses - love them all! Lastly - because I have to wear sunglasses both when it is sunny or snowy - I wore my favorite sunglasses by Loft. I have had this taupe pair for about 4 years and I love them so much and wear them all the time, though I own a lot of sunglasses. I happen to love my layered Winter uniform. It is perfect for a busy mom on the go: warm, casual but put together, fun and easy. What do you think?!

  3. Super cute outfit, Ada! I love the combination of pink and burgundy and black. And those sunglasses are so cute! I admire them every time you share them here. It has been wicked cold here the past few weeks as well with a whole bunch of days reaching negative temperatures. I rarely even step outside!

  9. I love the color of your cardigan and it looks so soft and cozy. Those booties are adorable too! I am hoping to find a black hat or beret before winter is over. Haven't really looked yet but figure they will go on sale soon. Brr what a cold week. We had 70 two days ago and today the high is low 40s and a cold wind.

  10. This is a perfect cozy winter outfit! I love the rose pink cardigan with your burgundy booties. This would be an indoor outfit for me, as I am super sensitive to the cold and am bundled up to the nines to go outdoors! Happy, happy birthday to your sweet daughter, Vivian-she's growing up so fast!
