The Fab 40s - Black is Beautiful.

Today I am back with my other friends of the Fab 40s group, where we get together the last Monday of each month and interpret a theme, a look, an inspiration, etc. We all rotate as far choosing the "themes" and this month it was my turn. So, to challenge myself and all these other ladies who like me like color and wear a lot of color, I decided to go for "Black is Beautiful" and challenged us all to style a head-to-toe black look. I absolutely love how everyone looks this month and we will get to the ladies outfits a little bit later, but first let me show you mine...

BLACK  IS  BEAUTIFUL.
Black is beautiful indeed. But for some reason I don't wear it a lot and don't gravitate towards it that much. I don't know why. Maybe because I love color. Maybe because colors make me happy. Sometimes actually I find black hard to wear because if you have different black separates, they are hard to match. Try for example creating a suit with a pencil skirt and a blazer, they may be an almost identical material but the blacks will be off. But I actually own a lot of black and the last few years, I have purchased quite a few black pieces. Today, I challenged myself in wearing blacks and I think the key to doing black separates the right way is by mixing and wearing different textures, like I have done here with my faux leather leggings and the sweater. This would also work with a black pair of pants or black jeans and a black blouse on top or black jeans, a cream or neutral blouse and a black jacket. With my textured sweater - love those double ruffled sleeves - and the textured liquid-looking leggings, I decided to go for full on edgy by pairing them with my black leather combat boots. But I kept things sweet, dressy, romantic and girly by adding red accents. The red sparkly cuff and matching heart-shaped earrings, the red lipstick + nails and that red lip smacked down the middle of my clutch all match so well together. It makes the perfect outfit for a date night look, actually it can go from day to night, from a laid-back casual office to either a dinner date or a girls night out. Because I accessorized with red, hearts and lips, this is a great outfit for upcoming Valentine's day too. Plus my other silver bracelet has a heart cut-in-half charm that says "Mother" & "Daughter". And I love the color combination of Black and Red. What do you guys think of this look?! Do you wear head to toe black often?! Do you find black to be beautiful?!

The Fab 40’s is a group of four fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme with the goal of taking on style trends and showing how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. With four widely varied views, you are certain to find something that speaks to you each month and encourages you to continue to have fun with fashion after the age of 40.

Let's take a closer look to what my friends wore. I love how every one of our looks is slightly edgy and sexy. I think we all nailed this challenge and it might be MY FAVORITE yet!

Shelbee lives in a very very cold climate, but I find it fascinating how she manages to always stay stylish even in the middle of the cold snow. She layered so many black pieces with a pop of plaid and not only does her circle pendant necklace stand out, it also matches her hoop earrings!

Suzy's outfit has a little bit of far east Asian inspiration to it, thanks to that beautiful patterned bag which is the perfect bouquet of color to an otherwise-black look. That lace fitted blouse underneath - stunning!

Dressy pants, an across-the-shoulders black sweater - two classic wardrobe staples. Change up the accessories and you can totally change the way these look together. Daenel piled on bracelets, added some gorgeous statement earrings and a bold dark lip and I love it!
