The Sunday Showcase: Mommy and Me Styled for Christmas Downtown.
Today's Sunday Showcase collaboration post with MIREILLE of Chez Mireille is all about Christmas in our towns. Mireille and I recently were out and about with our kiddos - she with her youngest son, Johnathan - for an afternoon/evening in our down-towns complete with festive looks and pretty coats. I love how Mireille and I were in sync in our red coats which are perfect to wear for this month of December. However, unlike usually, this time my outfit is casual and hers is more dressy. Vivian and I wore these outfits last week on Saturday when we took a little trip downtown the beautifully-lit city of Detroit, with my mom. We even ate dinner al fresco (because COVID) and froze off a little bit but overall it was a great afternoon + evening and all the walking warmed us up a little bit. Now, let's take a look into our outfits first and then into our beautiful cities.
MOMMY AND ME STYLED FOR CHRISTMAS DOWNTOWN.
This red plaid coat from Old Navy (current, from this year) is all over Instagram, Pinterest and Like to Know.it this year. I have seen so many people wear it, bloggers and non-bloggers. I wanted a festive coat and something in red since the last time I wore a red coat was in Albania (left it there 5 years ago). I picked it up when it was 40% OFF and with a coupon. Later Old Navy had a better sale on this coat but it has been in and out of stock and it is so popular, I was afraid it would sell out - so glad I bought it. This is the first and only time (so far) that I wore it. I have on a red mock-neck sweater underneath it and even though it is a classic coat and a statement piece I went for edgy on the bottom by pairing it with my Grey Moto Jeans by Target and these edgy buckled moto boots from last year. I also wore my grey felt hat from Old Navy (from 5 Winter seasons ago) because it was cold. But it also picked up the little grey of the coat and the grey jeans, of course. Beautiful Vivian is festive too in her stunning, elegant navy peacoat with that fur-trimmed hoodie - she got this as a Christmas present last year from one of her aunts. Vivian is also wearing a red top underneath - red fleece sweatshirt with a festive sequined unicorn - which matched her new red Christmas bow by JoJo Siwa. On the bottom Vivian has on pumpkin spice leggings with gold printed unicorns and her adorable black combat boots. I love how she looks festive and ready to celebrate Christmas but it is definitely a classic + edgy look too. Viv is one of the best-dressed 7-year old girls that I know. What do you think of our mommy+me looks?! Aren't our coats beautiful?! I love adding one or 2 new coats to my closet every year and getting rid of an older one, do you do that too?! Last, do you happen to own this gorgeous red plaid coat by Old Navy?!
DETROIT DOES CHRISTMAS.
Here is the beautiful grand city of Detroit all decked up for Christmas. It' lit up! Detroit does Christmas in a festive, sparkly, beautiful way! The main tree is at the famous Campus Martius park located across the street from the ice-skating ring which unfortunately is currently closed, due to Covid-19. Damn you Covid! There were lights in a lot of trees around this area too, also some buildings were lit in red and green in honor of Christmas. There were several areas that were decked out too and little Christmas displays like the present-shaped red box where you can "send" letters to Santa - Vivian loved that. I hadn't been to Detroit during the holidays for a few years and Vivian had never seen it all decked out and lit up for Christmas either, but I am glad we went and we will make it a yearly tradition now, every December. My mom enjoyed it, too. She hadn't been downtown Detroit in years, either. We are not very far from it, but it is a little bit of a drive.
Aren't these kids adorable?! Little Johnathan looks so festive dressed up in his little zipped-up sweater coat with that festive flannel plaid underneath it. That big Santa he is standing next to, is so fun too.
I love this monochromatic look Mireille created with her brown patterned babydoll dress and those tall taupe faux suede ruched boots by Target which I also own. Mireille looks darling in this outfit that I would describe as dressy bohemian. Make sure you check out her post today too and you will see her gorgeous red pea-coat too - a classic, timeless piece which I love.
THE SUNDAY SHOWCASE FEATURE.
My Favorite post from the last Sunday Showcase linkup was by JOANNE from Slices of Life - a lifestyle blog. Joanne linked up her Holiday Home Tour 2020 which was perfect for our linkup last weekend since on the previous Sunday Showcase, Mireille and I took you to our homes and gave you a Christmas home tour. Joanne really went all out for Christmas like with that pretty snowman ladder above. She had snowmen all over her house this year. I also loved her fun, colorful stockings and her tree in classic Christmas colors.
Left this photo for last because it suits the title since it is about mothers and daughters and I seriously have the best mother and the best daughter. Period.

I love all of the pictures of the city! One year I need to go down to Atlanta to take some picture. While it is really not that far, probably a 45 min drive, we don't go downtown very often. I am glad you picked up this plaid coat! It will be a classic and I love how festive it is without being Chritmasy.

What a fun collaboration! Both of you and Mireille did a beautiful job showcasing such festive looks with your little ones. I also adore your coat. I saw it on ON a few weeks ago during Black Friday but sadly it was already sold out in my size. Things fly off the shelf even in a pandemic I guess! Lol I hope you are having a great weekend so far and happy Sunday!

Away From The Blue
Ada, I love your coat! I think I saw that coat at Old Navy and I passed it by because I have a million coats! But I may have to check it out now and see if it goes to wicked clearance after the holidays! Detroit looks so beautiful and festive as do you and Vivian. And Vivian is a natural in front of the camera! Merry Christmas, my friend.
