Thursday Moda #134: My Sophisticated Jewel-Toned Birthday Outfit.

Happy Thursday Moda day - the last Thursday of September 2018. Gasp!! You know how I have been saying I have a lot, a lot of unblogged outfits from this Spring and Summer. Well, today is an example of that as I bring you the outfit I wore (all day) to my birthday and in case you were wondering -- that was on May 4th 2018, months ago. But I did pair these jewel-toned pieces (cropped paperbag-waist culottes and watercolor cap-sleeve blouse) recently again for another work-chic look, except I changed the accessories and wore purple tassel earrings, metallic penny loafers and carried a black leather bag instead.

MY  SOPHISTICATED  JEWEL-TONED  BIRTHDAY  OUTFIT.
But today, let's focus on my Very Sophisticated Jewel-Toned Birthday Outfit. My birthday this year fell on a Friday and this is the outfit I wore all day, from work and after (for a birthday dinner date). Let me talk about these Stunning Silk Navy Pants for a minute. These pants might have several trends in one piece: paperbag-waist, culotte style. But despite the current trendy piece they represent, they are very much a classic and classy pair of pants and ones I can see me wearing for a long time, despite the current trends of the moment be it 1, 5, 10 or 20 years from now. These pants are chic, modern, sophisticated and classy. The fact that they are navy, makes them even better in my eye. They are Tahari and I lucked out because I happened to find them on clearance. Now, let me tell you this style of pants: Cropped Paperbag-Waist Culottes is a style I have personally never tried or worn before, but I am in love. They looked splendid with the Watercolor Green/White/Black/Navy/Aqua Cap Sleeve Blouse by Express I have had for a long time. Of course with pants like these, you always have to tuck in the top, but an adorable cropped blouse, cropped camisole or cropped sweater would look great with them too. I chose my Suede Buckle-Embellished Pumps by Nine West to wear. I love that they are between a cobalt and royal purple. I also accessorized with Statement Pom Pom Black+Gold Earrings, a Black Beaded Bracelet, a Dark Red Glass Cocktail Ring and a Teal Folodover Clutch. I did a light smoky eye and kept my lips in a soft nude lipstick. Since it was my birthday I decided to do some loose curls, too. I think that I looked and felt like a million bucks. I must say when I love an outfit it shows, I even smile better. What do you think?!

Last week I was attracted to a lot of outfits that I would call "Street Chic Looks". I can totally see myself walking and then going to dinner, wearing any of the outfits below. A couple of the bloggers featured, did just that. I also loved the neutral patterns and those gorgeous neutral booties not one but two of the bloggers are wearing (see below). And who knew I would include not one but two rompers in today's favorites.

This week's featured blogger is my Californian buddy CHERYL from Cheryl Shops, someone I haven't followed even for a full year but whose blog and style I loved from a first peak. In one of her posts we had a preview of her short but amazing 2-day trip to Paris while in the other, just like myself, she opted for dressy cropped culotte pants. The first outfit featuring the adorable red-flower ivory skirt paired with white sneakers and a cozy waterfall jacket was perfect for strolling in Paris, while the second outfit can go for some walking, an office job, date night. I love pairing an all-black look with splashes of red and going for some stunning heeled mules and a bright scarlet lip, was the right choice for that pants' outfit (on the right). I love that Cheryl always mixes trendy affordable pieces like ones from Zara and H+M with beautiful high-end designer clothes. If you have to yet follow her, I suggest you do so!

Ruth got it covered just in one mini dress - 'Tweed and Tennis' and totally stylish. That is exactly how I would describe her retro-chic grey tweedy pocket dress paired with white sneakers.
My friend Amy looks adorable as a new mom sharing a black and white little Old Navy romper. It may be 'No More August' but in some states it is still very hot, so rompers with strappy sandals just like Amy's would be perfect!
Kellyann's 'Fall Kimono' is so attractive for this current season. I have never seen one quite like it. As always she has the best shoes and most stunning jewelry too. That necklace is a work of art!
Speaking of rompers again, though hers looks like a mini dress, Laura is 'Transitioning a Romper for Fall'. I like the versatility of a dress, romper or jumpsuit and Laura does too. Her greyish-taupe open-toe booties however - I am dying over!

  2. Oh thanks friend for enjoying my outfit last week, you are so sweet! I absolutely love your culottes. I'd like to add a pair but sometimes the fit can be tricky so I'll need to try them on in store - my least favorite way to shop! Glad you wore something fabulous on your birthday back in May! Perfect for all day and into the night!
