The Critics' Choice Awards 2018 Recap.

With the award show season in full swing, after the Golden Globes, the Critics' Choice Awards were held Sunday after the Globes and the Hollywood gals got all dolled up again. Unlike the Globes, there was no Black Dress code. White was a huge trend at the Critics Choice Awards 2018 and so were fun patterns and lots of bright colors. As far as hemlines besides the classic gown length, we saw a lot of midi styles, ankle-length and even short dresses. Long sleeves and full sleeves were on trend too especially sheer sleeves. Romantic details like floral, embroidery and embellishments were in. Here is a rundown of my favorite looks and as always I will comment on a few of them. I will have a post on the SAG Awards too and of course the Grammy's are on this Sunday - January 28th - so stay tuned!

MY  TOP  FAVORITE  LOOKS.
Gal Gadot in Prada.
For 2018's Critics' Choice Awards my 'award' for Best Dressed is a tie between Gal and Yara (below). Gal Gadot came into the scene as a leading lady for this year's award shows and she killed it at The Golden Globes with her shirred ankle-length fitting gown and cropped black satin tuxedo blazer. But she looks even better in this sterling stunning gown with the low-cut cleavage and beautiful pleated skirt. She shines!! Plus her hair and makeup is perfect for the gown.

Yara Shahidi in Gimbattista Valli.
I have no idea who she is but she is a beautiful lady and her floral lavender gown in 2018's IT color - Ultra Violet - is perfect on her. I love the bohemian appeal with the full sleeves and bejeweled gold bustier. Also those flowy bell chiffon sleeves are so beautiful. I would wear this stunning gown in a heartbeat. It goes to show you too that you can be fully-covered and look stunning and sexy!

THE  REST  OF  THE BEST.
Laura Dern in Balmain.
Such a sleek, sophisticated and sexy black jumpsuit. Love the tuxedo style.

Sarah Hyland in Naeem Khan.
What a beautiful modern-day princess ballerina Sarah is. She has the body and appeal to wear this princess-dress. Love the stunning slinky strappy stilettos with this.

So Elegant and Ethereal in White and Cream.
Greta Gerwig in Fendi.
My favorite white gown belongs to Greta. She is wearing this beautiful flowy gown and that heart-shaped illusion neckline is stunning and so unique. Greta looked fantastic at the Golden Globes, too. Love her hair+makeup, too.

Angelina Jolie in Ralph and Russo.

Diane Kruger in Vera Wang.
I love love this stunning, unique, modern dress on Diane. She looks flawless in it. The neckline with the silver mesh bust and those fallen sleeves below the elbows are nice details made for 2018.

Kate Bosworth in Brock Collection.

Saoirse Konan in Michael Kors.

Bold, Bright and Beautiful in Color!
Nicole Kidman in Valentino.
Leading the crew of the ladies who decided to wear beautiful bright colors is the lovely Nicole. Her Fuchsia Gown is feminine, modern, fun, trendy and with a touch of retro. I love the full sleeves with the puffy shoulders and high neckline.

Allison Janney in Michael Cinco.

Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji.
Octavia is a plus size actress who always does her body justice. I have rarely seen her wear a bad dress. She works her curves in this sophisticated eggplant gown. She is quite a good actress, too.

Jessica Chastain in Vionnet.

Olivia Munn in Prada.

Best Whimsical and Patterned Looks.
I loved seeing a combination of patterns, fun color-blocking, unique stripes and whimsical styles at the Critic's Choice Awards this year. After all, this award show is a little more relaxed than the Golden Globes, the Oscars or even the Sag Awards.
Kiernan Shipka in Delpozo.
Leading my favorites in this category is Kiernan. Yes I understand this outfit is out there - cropped bee-pattern pants with an ice-cream-style mint+peach pastel girly tulle-skirted dress over them - but Kiernan is so young and she totally pulled it off. If you don't know who Kiernan is, she is a young actress who beautifully portrayed a leading role on one of my mom's favorite movies (and mine too) "Petals in the Wind". She is a star on the rise and so very talented (besides being beautiful).

Reese Witherspoon in Prada.

Margot Robbie in Chanel.
It is Striped. It is a Jumpsuit. It is Chanel. And Margot Robbie wore it. Enough said. Seriously though what a beautiful jumpsuit and the belt and hair piece are perfect with it.

Emilia Clarke in Dolce and Gabbana.

Zoe Kazan in Valentino.

Jessica Biel in Oscar de La Renta.
I always love Jessica's red carpet style. She killed it in this colorful black/red/pink dress with the unique artsy floral print. The ankle-length tulle skirt is beautiful. Such colorful elegance!

  2. I didn't even know the award show was last night! My hubby was trying to turn it on but my son wouldn't have it. He is sick with an ear infection on both ears so he wanted his train shows instead. We saw a glimpse of the award he and there and just so many beautiful things. I love all the sparkles! Yara's dress is gorgeous that's for sure....
