3 Casual Ways to Wear White After Labor Day.
Happy September you all. This is the first weekend of this month which is the official first month of Fall and since this weekend is Labor day weekend, I decided to create this post to show you three casual outfits of how to wear white AFTER Labor day. I have never been one to follow "fashion rules" and to tell you the truth I am not 100% sure if I ever followed the "Don't Wear White After Labor Day" rule and you know what that rule is super dated anyway. If we can wear Winter White in the cold months, why not wear its sister: super bright, shiny, crisp white?! I do know that I love my white jeans and I love wearing them for every season (I have two pairs that are skinnies - one is distressed - and I want to add a pair of bootcut ones too and a white denim skirt like the one featured on my third style collage, below).
Actually wearing white in the Fall (or even Winter) it is easier than it sounds. My favorite colors to pair white with in the cooler months are beige or tan (but cognac and brown is a great idea too), grey, burgundy or cranberry and of course black because black+white is always super chic. I also love pairing white with leopard in the Fall, after Labor Day. Let's be real, leopard is a neutral. I think a white blouse is classic and timeless and definitely can be worn year-around and for all seasons. So I skipped the white blouse in this style post and decided to show you three other ways to style white casually for Fall. I focused on three white bottoms: a white pair of jeans, a white skirt and a white dress. I love all three outfits I created here and I will most definitely create and wear my version of each with items already in my closet. While the first look of white paired with tan is so crisp, fresh, clean and monochromatic, I'd say the outfit featuring the white mini skirt is my favorite. Plus that White Button-Front Skirt is so chic, fun and sexy without being revealing at all. I give all of these outfits a mom stamp of approval, for sure!

How to Wear White Skinny Jeans after Labor Day.
For this outfit, I paired my favorite color combination from late Summer all the way through the end of Fall: white+tan or beige. There is nothing so special about this outfit: Skinny Jeans paired with a V-Neck Sweater. But add a pair of Chic Cut-Out Wedge Sneakers and an Elegant and (very) Street-Chic Nude Backpack - which I am dying to buy - and all of a sudden this sweater+jeans outfit is totally elevated. Since the outfit is almost colorless, I added a beautiful Kendra Scott Pendant Necklace in a beautiful bright blue. No one does pendant necklaces like Kendra, so pick up one. And these amazing Current Elliot White Jeans are half off, making them under 100 bucks.
White Stiletto Jeans (fantastic designer jeans and for half off, a Steal!)
Cutest and Best-Priced Blush Backpack (90% chance I will order this; I can see it work for all seasons but I'd love it for Fall).
How to Wear a White Dress after Labor Day.
While the first and third outfits both have a sporty vibe going for them - athleisure is my favorite, especially for a mom on the go - this outfit with a Little White Dress (LWD) has a Bohemian feel to it and it would be perfect for a Date Night or Girls' Night Out. The dress I chose already feels Fall-ish because of the embroidered flowers in light blue and touches of brown. It is by Free People - currently on sale. Free People is known for their pretty floral dresses and I especially love their embroidered ones. I wanted to make this a little sexy for the evening and chose to pair it with one of the best Black Leather Moto Jackets, currently in the market. Those bright orange+red crochet tassel earrings are perfect for the dress and add some color to this mostly black+white look. I decided to add one of these Chic Envelope Clutches I have been eyeing for months and decided that with the length of the dress to go for some Mid-Calf Boots instead of booties or tall knee-high boots. These Gray Suede pair have fringe off the side which add to the boho appeal of the entire look. They are such cute boots!
White Embroidered Dress (I love the bohemian feel of this, plus it is on sale and it is gorgeous!!)
Gray Suede Fringe Mid-Calf Boots (for a great deal and I love them paired with the dress.)
Bright Orange + Brick Red Earrings (absolutely love these!!)
How to Wear a White Denim Skirt after Labor Day.
Last but definitely not least I am styling my favorite white piece which is this fun white button-front denim skirt. Not only do I want that skirt, but I want to buy/add every single piece in this outfit since it is my favorite of the three. I could describe this outfit in many words because each of them would suit it: street-chic, athleisure, elegant, casual, comfortable, sporty, feminine, cozy, cute, monochromatic yet colorful, etc. Blue+white stripes have been more on trend and more fashionable than usual this year and I love the idea of picking a pretty blue+white striped girly blouse like this one tucked into the white skirt - though a simple, classic, pinstriped button-down would look great too. Fall equals layers so a cozy, loose, open-front cardigan in a light color for Fall like tan, mauve or blush would be perfect and this Gap Cardigan is the dream! I also would love this outfit if you draped a light leopard scarf around it. Great pattern-mixing with the blue stripes, at the same time. Lastly, I added the Most Gorgeous Wedges. Are they a sneaker?! Are they a dessert boot or an oxford shoe?! Or perhaps they are a clash of all three styles I described. No matter what type of shoe you call these wedges, they are gorgeous. I love the mushroom shade - perfect neutral - and the soft suede. Also the Velcro tab over the laces looks awesome as a detail!
White Button-Front Skirt (love this skirt so much!)
Leopard Scarf (if you missed out on the Leopard BP scarf from Nordstrom, get this one instead. It is on sale for like 65% off, cheaper than the one at Nordie's and better-made!)
Wedge Dessert Booties (I love that these are between a sneaker and a bootie.)
Which of these three outfits is your favorite?! How do you style white after Labor Day?! Come back here next Tuesday on September 12th when I launch "The September Issue"- a very special collaboration among a dozen bloggers and next Tuesday we will all show you how to style a White Dress for Fall. =)
White is truly my go-to. It just seems to brighten every other color! I love these suggestions, Ada!

Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. This rule is so stupid in our time and so old fashioned.
ReplyDeleteI've never understood the no white after labor day rule. White can brighten up an entire outfit. Happy Weekend!
