Thursday Moda #70: Summer Blazers for Work (Look 17).

Hi Guys and Happy Thursday! Is it warm there yet?! Bring me some Summer, will ya?! So with that said, a blazer or jacket is perfect for today's post, right?! Yes, we have had a cool June but even in the heat I think you can still wear blazers to work in the Summertime. After all offices are chilly with the AC breezing. My lovely co-host ALEX of The Cheerful Closet and myself are styling Summer Blazers for work today. And if you want more semi-casual business professional ideas look no further than Alex's blog because you are bound to see her in a lot of pencil skirts, blazers, cardigans, blouses and cropped pants. Her style is elegant, chic and very comfortable. My idea of a Summer Blazer is something light and airy as in a light material (mine is silky and I included it in my capsule wardrobe).  Also something with elbow-length sleeves or 3/4 sleeves like mine, would be a great Summer blazer. As far as colors I would choose a white one, a pinstriped one (in white and navy stripes would be perfect), pastel colors like mine (mellow yellow, baby blue, lavender, baby pink, peach, etc.) or something bright (like coral, cobalt, Kelly green, turquoise, orange or bright yellow). I love how we both agree on the trends of blazers for Summer because I have on a pastel blazer and Alex chose a bright-colored one.

If you remember from when I posted my capsule items (here) you can see that the dress I have on today was nowhere in sight. I decided to swap the dress I have on today for the light blue+navy striped midi dress by Who What Wear - this one . I actually ordered that dress online and while I still like it, I wish it was a little shorter and a little smaller on me. Plus the off-shoulder dress with the embroidered sleeves is definitely one of those dresses you will most definitely remember so probably not best for a 30 or 60 day capsule. I think this Navy Striped Dress from Loft I randomly found on clearance in a size small a month ago, was a great substitute. I love that it looks like a two-piece. The top part is in a light very comfortable cotton jersey while the midi skirt part is in a very light silky material. The Baby Blue Blazer was great over it especially while I carried a Light Dove Grey Clutch (I love this textured python-like oversized clutch with the tassels, I recently got at Express). Wearing red, white and blue outfits to work this week in honor of the 4th of July, I opted for my Red D'Orsay Pumps again. They were the perfect color pop in an otherwise neutral, monochromatic look. Hope you like this outfit because I love how this turned out.

Baby Blue Light Silky 3/4-Sleeve Collarless Blazer w/ Tie Detail on the Sleeves: LC Conrad via Kohl's (New) (similar bomber style, on Huge Sale, love this), (light hooded option, Huge Steal), (similar, Great Deal), (gorgeous elegant option, Splurge, my Favorite).
Light Baby Blue Matte Frame Sunglasses w/ Blue Mirror Glasses: Old Navy (New) (similar, Steal, love these), (similar), (similar, Small Splurge, my Favorite).
Light Baby Blue Stone Statement Earrings w/ Long Navy Stones: Sugarfix by Baublebar via Target (New) (similar, Huge Steal), (similar, Great Deal, love these), (similar, on Sale, my Favorite).
Black Faux Leather Wrap Bracelet: Gap (Old) (similar, Steal), (similar, Great Deal, love this), (similar, Small Splurge, my Favorite).
Red-ish Pink Super Lustrous Lipstick: "Cherries in the Snow" by Revlon (identical, for a Steal, come in many colors), (similar, Huge Steal), (similar, Splurge, my Favorite).

Last week about 115 looks were entered and I saw so many cute red+white+blue outfits (plus lots of gingham in the mix) like my features. May I say all the ladies I featured have some gorgeous shoes and I want all their cute footwear. Oh and cute shorts, ladies!
This week's featured blogger is NORA from Jacket Society which is so fitting for today's post that we are talking about blazers, because Nora designs and wears all of her own jackets and blazers. This lovely Californian designer and mom styled two casual and fun outfits with layers that can be taken off. First she showed us that a light, rainy day jacket pairs perfectly with classic shorts and OMG her belt and sandals are stunning in that first look. She also showed us the importance of a pencil denim skirt which she styled three different ways with tops she designed herself. I always look forward to every outfit Nora posts because I love her style as well as the clothes and jewelry she designs. I have ordered from her online store 3 times now (both clothes and jewelry) and her stuff is beautiful, unique, super chic and well-made. The black blouse from my capsule wardrobe (not yet blogged) is from Jacket Society. I hope you check out her blog and online boutique if you haven't yet.

Nicole's combination of stripes and 'Gingham Print' comes in one adorable ruffle-sleeve top. Her sandals and tiny crossbody bag are equally as charming!
Laura, showing off her baby bump is 'Pretty in Pink Blush' - an online boutique known for lovely maternity dresses. Laura's large floral print black+white one is a beauty!
Christine always nails the classic elegance of the Parisienne style and she did that in her 'French Riviera Summer Look' with the most classic black jumpsuit paired with a black clutch and nude heels.
Tilden's 'Red, White & Gingham' falls in the super cute and super comfy category. Her lace-up sandals and uniquely-cut shorts are both stunning.

Today's Fabulous Thursday Moda Co-Host: The Cheerful Closet.
Not only do I love the way Alex named her blog but I also love her cheerful work outfits like the trio below. There is a pop of bright color in each one and all three pairs of shoes are cute or dare I say "cheerful shoes"?! Both of her cropped pants outfits have the shoes matching another item she is wearing. Make sure you stop by Alex's blog to see more of her blazers and great everyday style.
