Currently, March 2017.
It feels like I just wrote my last currently post, just the other day. In actuality, it hasn't even been 4 weeks. February proved to be the super short month it always is. It definitely felt like it. I blinked and bam, it is gone (one more day). The first Wednesday of each month, ANNE of Anne In Residence hosts this fun monthly linkup called "Currently". She comes up with 5 prompts (verbs) of what we are up to for that particular month and below I have March's edition.
Before I go ahead with the prompts, I want to add a few goals to these monthly posts. I didn't make any New Year's resolutions which is good but I do want to accomplish some things/goals each month. For March I want to:
- get my taxes done and sent.
- spent very little or no money on myself. My closet only needs about 3 things (a pair of mules, skinny black jeans and a blue denim jacket), so no need to spend on other unnecessary things.
- finish the 2 books I have already started to read and start and finish a third book.
- read more books to Vivian.
- work on finding a pre-school for Vivian that she can go for at least 2 or 3 days a week.
watching: Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, The Bachelor and When We Rise (starting today). I am slowly watching "The Fosters" on Netflix too. But it isn't as exciting as it used to be. What shows are you guys watching and what do you suggest I watch next? Let me know and I appreciate it.
eating: Greek yogurt or cottage cheese with chopped fresh fruit like strawberries, blueberries and pears (or sometimes canned peaches). Actually I just ate that for dinner tonight too (just minutes prior to writing this post). My breakfast or dinner usually consists of what I just mentioned. For lunch I have a variety of things: soups, salads, beef, fish, chicken, sandwiches, pitas and wraps.
saying: that I won't spend any money and the next thing I know, I am shopping my heart out. Target gets me all the time, they have great things. Also Loft has had some very cute things for Spring and I want so many of them. I really hope to change that in March. As I mentioned above, one of my March goals is not to shop and if I do just for the items I need.
wearing: Skinny Jeans and Light Sweaters or Leggings and Light Sweaters - this is usually my 'uniform' this day. Another 'uniform' I have worn and you have seen a lot of is a long-sleeve dress with tights and booties. As fas as accessorizing with jewelry, these days I am all about tassel earrings and dainty necklaces. Plu, even if you combine the two, they don't take from each other's spotlight.
posting: (on the blog) mostly Outfit Posts as you all know. But I want to start writing more lifestyle posts. For example, I want to focus on some of the few recipes I know and cook well and (very late but still) do the recap post for Vivian's 4th birthday. Maybe once a month too I will do an Instagram-related post which will be compiled of some of the photos I have lately posted on Instagram, which usually has different content than my blog. Speaking of Instagram, I want to post flat-lays and some of the OOTDs that never make it on the blog, but I need a selfie stick.
For March, I will be styling some 'Greenery' on the blog, using both old, very old and new items I own in green which is the color of the year. It is also the color of March with St. Patrick's day less than three weeks away. Some of these will be Mommy+Mini posts. For now, let's see what I posted the last couple of years and my reflections on each outfit. =)

In this post I shared two casual outfits I had worn on Valentine's Day weekend. I am not sure the outfit above worked. I don't hate it but I definitely don't love it. I am not sure the Light Tan Color works with the Darker Gray, but I do love my Tan Velvet Blazer (wish I had it here) and I love that Gray Tee with an Embellished Stone Neckline. I think a Cream or White Tee (even a graphic white tee) would have looked better since my pants were a light color (they are a blush with a Vintage Rose Pattern). Last but not least, I shouldn't have worn those Black Leather Booties. I should have gone with Camel or Light Tan Booties or Loafers instead. So yeah even-though I don't have most of these pieces here, I would not re-create this outfit.
Look at all this snow we had last year in February, definitely not the case this February. The outfit above is one I would indeed re-create and re-wear, with the same LBD or any other LBD in my closet. All black with a Black+White Zebra Coat is always stylish. Since the coat makes a statement and definitely stands out, keeping it all black - not just the dress - was a great idea. But if you notice closely, my tights have this sort of Mosaic Pattern but since they are also black, they doesn't clash with the Zebra Coat. Ohh and I was wearing Black Leather Booties with heels.
i love your coat..

Oh my goodness, I'm the same way. Target definitely gets me every time!
ReplyDeleteI have one more month for my shopping ban so I'm right there with you! Although Loft is SO tempting. I will admit that I did buy some pieces for my upcoming trip to Europe from the Loft outlet recently. Not compliant with the ban but I shopped very intentionally so I'm still proud of myself.
ReplyDeleteSkinny jeans + light sweaters are my jam right now, too- just waiting for spring to really hit!

Love that zebra coat!!! Great post ada!
ReplyDeleteYou are so discipline with your spending and limiting to 3 things. I should try that and focus on what my closet needs! Can't wait to see how you style your new stuff! That zebra print coat is amazing!

Preschool already - crazy, right? We just sent in our deposit for the fall! And I'm loving that the uniform can be "light" sweaters instead of the heavy ones these days!
ReplyDeleteActually kindergarden, whatever it is called for 4-year olds. But yeah crazy that she is at that age. Hope Henry is doing real well, too.
DeleteI make a list of what my closet needs. But I feel that way with shopping and target can get ya!
ReplyDeletethanks for linking with turning heads tuesday

The zebra print coat is gorgeous! I don't live near any decent shops (which is both a blessing and a curse) so online shopping is my temptation. I just have to delete those sales emails without opening them!
