Make a Statement with a Necklace, Sweater Edition.

I wore this outfit about a week ago to a Bridal Shower. We will get to the outfit in a bit, but first I wanted to show you what a difference a Necklace makes, especially when paired with a Simple Sweater (like I paired mine with this V-Neck Sweater). Actually I wanted to do a post like this for a while now, and on the day of the shower when I decided what to wear I contemplated on what necklace to wear and I tried 4 different necklaces. Since I decided to go without earrings and just a simple but cute bracelet, I knew I wanted to focus on a necklace. I ended up taking closeup photos of all 4 necklaces (paired with this Green V-Neck Sweater).

These are the 4 Necklaces I chose that I figured would mix+match well with the sweater.
The Necklaces:
Long Necklace w/ Camel Wood Beads, Glass White Bead, Glass Teal Beads & Turquoise Tassle: Hand-made & Gifted (New) (gorgeous option by The Limited, great deal, my favorite), (fun option by BubleBar, comes in 3 colors), (similar w/ yellow tassel & camel beads, my favorite).

I have always liked green with gold so I first tried the sweater with this necklace. Since the green is more like a light avocado color the gold doesn't stand out too much. But the necklace mixed well with that blush crystal bracelet, especially since some of the beads of the necklace are also crystal.

Now this Neon Statement Necklace is Bold but the colors pick up all the greens from the sweater and skirt, plus the orange and yellow flowers from the skirt. Ultimately, as you will see below, it is the Necklace I ended up choosing for the Bridal Shower (with this outfit).

This Gorgeous Brown+Teal Tassel Necklace was hand-made/DIY-ed by my friend Carrie from Curly Crafty Mom. About a month ago we did a gift exchange and this is one of the pieces I received. I will talk more about the gift exchange a week from today. This is probably the necklace that stands out the most when paired with this V-Neck Sweater and the colors are so vibrant.

When I left Michigan 4 years ago, a good friend of mine left me this Freshwater Pearl Necklace (it was her own) as a way to remember her. It is a very simple necklace but a classic piece. Each pearl is almost different from the other and the pearls' colors range from ivory to light tan, to blush  and baby pink. For a little Pearl Collar Necklace, it definitely stands out.

So, this is what I ended up wearing for the Bridal Shower: Black Floral Organza Striped Midi Skirt, Avocado-Green V-Neck Cashmere Sweater with my Teal Patent Leather Fold-over Clutch, Champagne Satin Embellished Stiletto Booties, Blush Crystal Bracelet and of course the Neon Statement Necklace. A great way to spice up a simple sweater is with a necklace, like I said. I have always felt that a V-Neck is the hardest as far as wearing a necklace goes, but I proved in this post that it is not all that difficult. Ultimately I wanted to pop some fresh vibrant color on my neck and bring out all the colors of the outfit, that is why I chose this necklace as opposed to the other three. And these Stiletto Booties (or are they Pumps?!) are simply Stunning. They are a Peep-Toe, Slingback Style and they are Embellished with Silver+White Stones. They are definitely high (at 4.5 inches tall) but they have built-in platforms so they are not very uncomfortable. So how did I do? Would you wear something similar for a Wedding Shower? Oh and BTW I have paired this Skirt with a Green Top and Neutral Peep-Toes here as well as with a Sweater and Neon Statement Necklace here. But I think today's look is my favorite of the three. =)

The Accessories:

Here is one last look of the necklaces+sweater closeup, all together in one collage for comparison. Which necklace looks best, you think? And there will be a second edition of this type of post, sometime this November so stay tuned. Thanks.

  4. I loveee the shoes, Ada!! All of the necklaces are lovely. I tend to go with understated jewelry more often than not for myself, so I'd probably wear the gold necklace. I think the bold necklace is great for a statement piece!
