Girlified Menswear.
I found out late (last week) that Bri's Third Thursday Threads for the month of October was Menswear-Inspired. However, I really wanted to join in even if it was late. This is a trend I love and wear myself every now and then. I put my own spin to it though.
When I think of menswear-inspired looks, I think of loose Button-Down Shirts especially in Colors like Black, Gray, Charcoal & Brown. I think of longer, wider Blazers, big Lapels. Ties, Bow-ties & Vests also come to mind. Boyfriend Jeans & Wide-leg Trousers for bottoms. Oxford Shoes, Boat Shoes, Converses, Toms & Sperrys for Foot-wear. But like I said, I also like to remix Menswear and make it my way. Today I wore Boyfriend (Husband) Jeans, a Bustier as a Vest, a Silver Rhinestone Buckle Belt as a Tie and a Looser-fit, Gray, 3/4-Sleeve Button-down Shirt. And my Bustier a.k.a. Vest has a Bow-tie under the bust which reminds me of Men's Bow Ties. The Bustier has Polka Dots that are White, Gray, Baby Pink & Fuchsia so I got a little Pink going for Breast Cancer A-WEAR-ness too. It is very Chic & Tailored. My Silver , Wedge Pump have very sharp pointy toes which remind me of fancy, pointy, Italian Shoes for Men. But I will tell you, they are not that comfortable, which is unusual for Nine West Shoes. Anyway, I like how this unusual Outfit came out, after seeing the final results on me and in pictures. Sometimes what we think of in our heads, doesn't translate as well in reality. What do you think of this Girlified Menswear Look? Do you like it? Did I pull it off? Was I trying too hard?
Hope you ladies had a Great Weekend. Have a Lovely Monday!!

Hey Ada, for some reason I haven't been able to see any of the photos in your last few posts. I'm not sure if it's just me, or what.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me now. After you told me I 'fixed' the problem.
DeleteI think you definitely girlified your menswear look! Very shiny and fun!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I love the adjective SHINY. It's a great compliment, Beth.
DeleteThat´s a cool shiny button down and bustier combination you have there! Don´t worry, Ada. I can perfectly see your photos and those of cutie Vivian too. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the compliments and for letting me know about the photos, Cha. I think I was being bold with the button-down and the detail of the bustier on the front, but it worked. =)
DeleteLove the polka dots!

Always Maylee
I know you do, sweet Yi-Chia.
DeleteI like how you wore the bustier as a vest! I've seen other people do that and I think it's a fun look.
ReplyDeleteI have done it before too, with strapless dresses as well.
DeleteI feel like a great heel is the key to doing menswear right. These sleek silver pumps are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteChic on the Cheap
They are actually a wedge but they are sleek, especially with the pointy, sharp toes.
DeleteYou can pull off boyfriend jeans! Me on the other hand...not so much. I have one pair and I someone asked me if my pants were too big. I guess I did not pull it off well. These look great on you! Love the heels!

See, this is my first and only pair and I am not quite sure whether I can pull them off or not but thanks for thinking that I can. And girl you would look great in a sac.
DeleteIt's too bad that the shoes aren't that comfy because they're SO cute!
ReplyDeleteI know they are Gorgeous. But uncomfortable for the most part. =(
DeleteLoving your outfit and your boyfriend jeans :) thanks so much for linking up last week,,sorry I'm so late stopping by as the children have been off this week...
ReplyDeleteThat's OK for being late Claire. Thanks for stopping by. My pleasure linking up. I am linking up today, too. =) Take care.
