Thursday Moda # 85: Plain Tees + Neutral Booties = Fall Staples.
Good morning and welcome to a new Thursday Moda. Once again just like last week, I have my fellow Michigander friend WHITNEY from Whitney Ć la Mode co-hosting with me. She, just like myself is one of the 6 bloggers doing "The Common Threads Challenge" this October. Whitney and I picked very similar pieces in our 5 items to remix: long mustard cardigans (which we styled on Thursday Moda last week), a skirt, a pair of jeans, plain short-sleeve tees and neutral booties. This week we are styling two outfits featuring our Plain Short-Sleeve Tees and Neutral Little Fall Booties. I believe these two items: plain tees and booties - are Fall staples for everyday wear, especially to create many different casual outfits. You can totally dress them up too, though.
Whitney - the awesome and savvy remixer that she is, wore her leopard scarf and black D'Orsay flats with her short-sleeve tee today - those were two of the same items she used to pair with her mustard cardigan outfit last week. Smart! Her second outfit featuring the booties is a little dressier and she can totally wear it to school where she teaches French. The long tailored blazer is nice and I couldn't help but notice how similar our neutral, slit-side booties are.
This is actually one of the firsts outfits I wore for the Common Threads Challenge and I have even repeated this outfit with different blue jeans and different shoes. I have also worn these same pieces with the sister cardigan of this Pink Long Chenille Cardigan - the Mustard Chenille Cardigan - which you have seen on my Thursday Moda posts two weeks in a row. This type of outfit is most definitely an uniform for me on days off, (like this one) when I am running errands. On this particular day after taking Viv to school, I treated myself to Starbucks and then a pedicure. Nothing super special but all were great treats to me and as busy as we are as full-time moms, wives, blogging full time and working full time (in my case), having some me time at least once or twice a week is super important. Makes you feel good too even if you have on the simplest outfit and no makeup. Time with yourself and by yourself is good for your mental health and general well-being. Try it. Do it more often.
This second outfit was the third outfit I wore this Monday (out of a total of 4, just felt like changing since I was off, out and about and also weather was craaazyyy). I just purchased this White Floral Swing Dress from Old Navy for 60% OFF the original price, they also have it in a black floral but I own a lot of dark and black florals for Fall. This dress is great because it has long sleeves and it is fully lined. Love the little pleating on the front. I wore it as a tunic with my New Navy Jersey Leggings (also from Old Navy and they come in like 4 or 5 neutral colors, they are great). I put on a Silk Pink Cardigan on top (I have had for close to 20 years guys and it is from The Limited, it still looks brand-new) and of course my Blush/Mauve booties were perfect for the colors of the outfit and the bohemian vibe I had going. The hat was a great boho addition and hiding my very grown-out grey hairs you all (I will finally get them colored this Friday).

Last week I noticed a lot of blues, black, olive and navy - Fall colors are popping in more and more. Chic LBDs, gorgeous Fall footwear, touches of cheetah and wrapping blanket scarves created some fantastic looks. These ladies knocked it out of the park. Thank you to all 95 or so of you who linked up.
This week's Featured Blogger is the lovely and leggy MONICA of Jersey Girl, Texan Heart who has been the featured blogger before. Last week she linked up two incredible black monochromatic looks that were sexy, elegant, edgy and modern. I loved the way she styled a simple black dress with that amazing bronze belt and leopard pumps. But better yet, the maroon faux leather skinnies paired with a black+maroon mixed media tunic and stunning suede OTK boots was so on point and I'd wear it this very moment. These super stylish looks are ready to walk downtown New York and they both would be perfect for upcoming holiday events, too. Actually the last month or so I have loved every single outfit Monica has put together, I could easily feature her every week. The stylish Monica just last week turned 30 too. Also every Wednesday she hosts her own style linkup. If you don't yet follow her, do so. She is one of those people whose style is always ever-evolving and very fun.
If you remember two weeks ago I styled the camel version of this 'Maroon Ruffle Blouse' that Nora wore and designed herself. With a few simple changes, Nora created 4 fantastic outfits featuring this blouse but I loved it with the scarf as a poncho.
Christine nailed 'Fall Street Style'. Her black and blush outfit is so in the moment. I always love pairing a silk lace-trim camisole with a black leather moto jacket and I love her belt and open-toe booties.
Caroline is one of us who are doing the 'Common Threads Challenge' and her post featured 5 very chic Fall looks but there is something about mustard, chambray and cognac leather that says cozy, leafy Fall to me.
Cheryl in a 'Body-Con' kept it simple and super chic. Her soft gray ombre blanket scarf was styled 5 different ways with her LBD, but wrapped on one side is hands down my favorite.
As we all know October is breast cancer awareness month and we are half-way through this month and besides these two pink cardigans you see on my post today, I haven't worn a lot of pink this month which is weird because I usually do. I will make an effort to wear more pink this month and will blog it too. Which outfit is your favorite and which one is more your style?!
Now join the linkup and make some new friends!
