Thursday Fashion Files Linkup and Blog Birthday Party pt. 2.

Party like it's 1999! Hey y'all, it is my birthday today. A little bit over 30... just a little lol. My birthday this year fell on a Thursday which is the day of my Thursday Moda linkup, but instead I ran my own linkup a day early - you can join it here - because I am joining two of my oldest and dearest blogging friends and supporters: JILL from Doused in Pink and CARRIE from Curly Crafty Mom, as today on May 4th I am the co-host for their weekly Thursday Fashion Files. And as you may know by my post yesterday, I am continuing my Birthday Blog Party celebration - a tradition I started in 2013 when I was a brand-new mom to the most gorgeous baby girl and this is the 5th year I am doing it. I decided to invite over a bunch of my blogging friends and supporters to join in on the fun, as I have done on the previous years. You saw the first 10 ladies shine yesterday and you will get to see 10 more of them shine on, today! I asked them all to style a dress that has been in their closet for at least two years, by the way. And I am doing the same.

...Oh and Vivian joined me in on the fun this year too, on both posts. I knew for a fact one of the two dresses I'd style was this one. It is in the perfect shade of gray with little rectangles in darker gray, kiwi and navy. It is 100% silk (the chiffon overlay and even the lining underneath) so it has no stretch at all but I am happy to say that 12-13 years after I have purchased it, this size 2 still fits (though there were probably times in between when it didn't fit). I have gotten many dresses from The Limited for the 15 years or so I have shopped there. I will miss that store. The best part about this dress, besides the silk material is the back. It has the ever-popular lace-up trend which is so in style for 2017. I ended up wearing it to a small wedding shower with a "Garden Theme" but it was so chilly that day and to tell you the truth only the first 45 minutes of the shower were held outsde. I didn't have Vivian with me since the shower was for a co-worker, but she wanted to wear one of her own pretty dresses when she saw me dress up and wanted to match mommy. So she grabbed her new dress which is heather gray on top (like a graphic tee) but features the most darling bubblegum pink striped sparkly tulle skirt. Since Vivi got dressed up, she really wanted to take pictures. I told her we would take just a few (these are all we took) since it was so chilly and I didn't want her to get sick. I mean with the denim jacket on top of the dress, the outdoor photo shoot was bearable but without the jacket, it was almost freezing. It is funny how as soon as I get to go on a Spring-themed shower (which was on Sunday), even-though I dressed perfectly for the theme, the weather for sure didn't cooperate. Anyhow, you see these red wedges for the second time this week but since grey is a neutral and I carried a classic quilted black purse and my denim jacket is in a light denim wash, I decided to go for bold bright footwear, instead. Oh and the jacket by the way is also 'vintage', about a decade old from Gap. I have purchased almost all of my denim jackets exclusively at Gap. No one does classic or even trendy denim like Gap. I added my Ivory Druzy Mini Studs and a Sparkly Statement Necklace since I still wanted to look pretty dressy. So how do you like this dress?! Isn't the bomber denim jacket perfect over it and altogether makes for a great Spring Wedding Shower look, no?!

I love that this girly graphic dress says "Dream Big" because I want my daughter to dream big in life, to set her dreams and goals high and work hard in order to achieve them. Because hard work, perseverance and determination pays off! It was sent to us as a gift from "Ties and Tutus for Tots".
