Happy Birthday to Me! (My Annual Blog Birthday Party - Part One.)
Today is my Birthday. I turn 39! Which means next year is a huge one! Birthdays are always bittersweet for us all as adults. They are bitter in the sense that we are getting older, we get more wrinkles, more gray hair, more cellulite, less energy, and most likely less attractive lol. But they are also sweet because it means we made it one more year, we opened our eyes each day and greeted the sun, we are alive and well and we have a new year to live and look forward to!
This morning for the first time ever I heard this beautiful and very meaningful new song by Rob Thomas, titled "One Less Day". Rob Thomas explains the song (and I quote) "This is an anthem about life and living. Living one more day is a privilege not afforded to everyone, so do all you can with the ones you get." The little writer in me just loves the words with this song. The mom, the fighter, the survivor and the life lover that I am agrees with the message of this song, it is so fitting to write it all down today for my birthday.
I’m not afraid of getting older,
I’m one less day from dying young,
I see the light go past my shoulder,
I’m one less day from dying young...
I see my life
like a train on a one way track,
I’ve made mistakes
and i couldn’t take ‘em back,
and I’ve been running round in circles
til i’m dizzy i can’t lie
...but every night i go to sleep’s
a day that i survived!
I’ve seen my friends
fall away before their time
and I’ve been afraid
that I may follow in their light,
so I drink and love and whisper,
all the things i know are right,
someday I will leave this world,
but maybe not tonight...
All my life I have been wandering,
burning up my candle like my time just won’t end
and I’ll keep burning til there’s nothing left,
praying that tomorrow I can do it all again...
if I get tomorrow I will do it all again...
I’m one less day from dying young,
I see the light go past my shoulder,
I’m one less day from dying young...
and I’ll keep burning til there’s nothing left,
if I get tomorrow I will do it all again...
I styled and wore this outfit specifically for my Annual Blog Birthday Party. Did you know that I have been doing these Blog Birthday Parties since when I first started blogging?! This is the 7th year in a row I am keeping this tradition on this little old blog of mine. And this is the largest participation ever too. Almost 30 ladies will join me in today's and tomorrow's posts sharing their own stylish looks (more on that below). I have featured half of them in this post with their own outfits and a little blurb about what they wore, etc. So, each year I have like a little 'theme' going for my Blog Birthday Party. This year I asked the ladies to wear something with a little pink, a little coral or a little red in it. Some of them even had to go out of their comfort zones, because these three colors are not what they usually wear. I, on the other hand am all about color, plus as you all know Red is my ultimate favorite outfit.
But in today's Special Birthday Outfit I wanted to showcase some Pink (shades of Millennial Pink and Blush) and Living Coral - the color of 2019. Plus what beautiful way to celebrate both my birthday, Spring and the month of May by showing tulips in my outfit. Tulip is the flower of May. And Emerald by the way is the birthstone of May, so don't mind if I wear a lot of green, too. I just love this amazing two-piece set by the Who What Wear Collection at Target. Both pieces were purchased last year (yes it is a blouse and a skirt, NOT a dress) and I finally blogged them both and I finally paired them together, too. Now this outfit is bold because it is very colorful and totally floral. But it is also girly, fun, chic, sophisticated, dressy and very me. I love that the shades of those tulips start at baby pink to two different shades of coral and deepen into red. My New Quilted Millennial Pink Rebecca Minkoff Look-alike Bag which I carried as a clutch is actually a crossbody bag and it is by none other than Target (linked on the widget below). My Blush Strappy Faux Suede Block-Heel Sandals are also by Target. They come in 3 different neutral colors and I was torn as to which color to get, but ultimately the blush-nude won me over. I sized up half a size in them and I am glad I did. The Brown Leather Belt with the built-in pocket is at least a decade old, from Gap. These belts are totally IN now. Almost every trend recycles, guys. Glad I held on to this. The Beautiful Pink Pearlized Pave Drop Earrings are a recent gift from JC Penney. I also accessorized with pink, green and coral stretchy bracelets hand-made by the talented Sue Marie at Hidden Beaded Treasures (I own a lot of her pieces - bracelets, earrings and necklaces). I kept my makeup simple but polished with a fuchsia lipstick for a girly vibrant color pop! What do you all think of my Birthday Outfit?! Do you own something in a tulip print?! I think this particular outfit can also work for an office, can take you to brunch, showers, graduations, date night, your birthday dinner or a birthday celebration and even a semi-casual wedding (I would take the belt off for the wedding, however).
Now, let's see what the beautiful ladies who joined my Birthday Blog Party this year, decided to wear in pink, red and coral. Everyone looks beautiful and I appreciate very much A} the fact that they joined me this year, therefore making me happy and B} their wonderful, heartfelt, genuine and beautiful words about me and all the birthday wishes. We all are together in this crazy but fun blogging life we enjoy, and having their support means the world to me. Make sure you blog-hop around their blogs too, to see their outfits in detail. I have linked their blogs by their names. =)
BETSY "I'm so excited to be a part of Ada's birthday party link-up this year! Seeing her posts, especially when she incorporates her little, Vivian, brings a smile to my face. I went with a casual look for her birthday, typical of my weekend style. The top was from a little boutique in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I've paired it here with a favorite pair of jeans (7 for all Mankind) and super-comfy pair of Eileen Fisher flats. Best wishes for an extraordinary next year, Ada!"
GRACE "“Hi there! My name is Grace and I’m the content creator behind gracefulrags.com. Not only am I passionate about sharing affordable (and practical) style inspiration through twice-weekly blog posts, but my content also touches on some of the more important things in life, like happiness and confidence—while always including a twist on how those pertain to fashion! Of course, you can also see the personality of a young college student sprinkled throughout my site, as demonstrated through my cringy dad jokes and goofy photos.
I love coral and that it’s the Pantone Color of the Year for 2019, but unfortunately, coral doesn’t love me! I’m sad to say the color doesn’t mesh well with my complexion. So instead, I incorporated subtle hints of coral in my floral blouse and in my accessories. As always, thanks for inviting me to the party, Ada! Wishing you the happiest birthday.”
LAURA "Coral always makes me think of warmer temperatures so I love wearing it more in the spring and summer. I dressed up a simple coral tee with wedges and a fun sequin skirt. It would make a cute birthday look for a night out! Hope you have a wonderful birthday Ada!!"
NANCY "Happy Birthday dear Ada! I wish you a wonderfull Birthday weekend! I celebrate it with you from the Netherlands in a very cheerfull outfit!"
MONICA "First and foremost, I'd like to say Happy Birthday to Ada, and thank you for continuing this birthday collab every year. It has been a pleasure being a part of this celebration for several years! My name is Monica, and I blog over at Jersey Girl, Texan Heart. I've known Ada for basically the entire time I've been blogging. I chose to wear a jumpsuit for her celebration because I have been LIVING in pants and jumpsuits lately. I don't know what it is, but it's such a great alternative to a dress in my opinion! Again, Happy Birthday Ada and I hope this next year brings you and Vivian the absolute best!"
ASHLEY "So happy to be included in Ada's birthday round-up! I've been blogging now for almost 10 years over on Le Stylo Rouge and Ada and I connected early. She is always so supportive and I'm wishing her all the best for her birthday!"
MAUREEN "When it comes to special occasions, a maxi dress is an easy go-to. This dress is 10 years old and even though I have added new ones to my collection, this one remains my favorite! I have worn this maxi dress on many occasions including my baby shower, a friend’s bridal shower and multiple brunches just to name a few because it is so comfy and easy to wear. I love that it is undeniably versatile and virtually seasonless. Given the busy nature of my dress, I kept everything simple by styling with black accessories which in my opinion, really complemented the red and yellow tones in my dress.
Wishing you the happiest of birthdays Ada! Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day."
CARRIE "Hi, I am Carrie and I blog over at Curly Crafty Mom. I'm so excited to be celebrating Ada's birthday with her today. Ada is so sweet and I've known her for quite some time. We even exchanged fun gift packages full of surprises to each other a couple of years ago. I always enjoy reading about her fashion and sweet daughter, Viv. I am a lifestyle and fashion blogger and would love for you to stop by. Today I'm sharing a red hot jacket, styled with a lace cami and white denim. I love a little pop of color every now and then. :)"
NAILIL "This is my first time joining the birthday celebration and I couldn’t be more excited! Thanks for having me Ada and happy birthday! :) I’ve been coming around to link up for a while now and always enjoy reading each post and those of others who link up. It’s fun to be able to join in and share these red high-rise paperbag-waist shorts - I’m loving this trend lately. The off-the-shoulder trend is another favorite, especially this time of year along with espadrilles, and this pair is my go-to because they go with just about anything."

I've dressed for the occasion in a coral bomber jacket, blush blouse, black pleated skirt, and pink velvet mules—the look is fun, elegant, and feminine, just like you! I hope you are tickled pink (and coral) by all the birthday love you receive this year!"
JENNIE "Happiest of birthdays to you, sweet Ada! Wishing you a day full of happiness and a year full of joy. Thank you so much for including me in your special celebration post"
YAUDY "Pink and blazers are my favorite specially paired with jeans and heels. This outfit was perfect for Easter. Comfortable yet perfect for the occasion."
MICHELLE "I love pairing my white jeans with girly colors for the spring/summer. This light sweater is great for the beginning of the warm weather! So excited for more ways to style my white jeans."
BOJANA "Hi everyone! It's Bo, from bosbodaciousblog. I am a mid-thirty something mom, wife, full-time teacher, and fashion lover.
