Thursday Moda #97: Thursday Quotes on Joy.
Guys I am tired. I have been sick for close to two weeks - and still haven't recovered 100%, please believe me. On top of that I have worn like 4 outfits all this year and 3 of those times I have worn my camo leggings - yes the same ones I posted in my last Outfit Post. Don't judge. I have been switching around my layers and sweaters on top though and yesterday I actually shot some photos too. Truth be told, I have at least 7-8 outfits from the last few weeks that have yet to make it onto the blog. Truth be told I never shared part two of my Christmas Home Tour, either. But if I am being honest I am tired, so tired. Last week I took a few days off work to recuperate and make myself feel better after this awful flu - that has been plaguing all America from what I heard on the news. And when I have not been working I haven't been blogging much because I am either A) trying to relax and take it easy; B) I have a million things to do... like take down all the Christmas decorations, keep downsizing and purging my closet and Vivian's and most importantly C) get ready for Vivian's birthday which is now only 9 days away.
So here I am, no photos have been edited and you know what I am OK with that and I am OK with the fact that I cannot show you a new outfit today on my linkup day. If you remember from a few posts earlier, my word for 2018 is "Self Joy". So, let's not fret the small stuff - like not having an outfit to post today. With that in mind today I am taking it easy without any new outfit pics. I will still recap my favorite looks from last week. But first let's look into some beautiful, uplifting quotes that have to do with personal joy and more.
"Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it." - Greg Anderson
"Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
"Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings." - William Arthur Ward
"Each day holds a surprise. But only if we expect it can we see, hear, or feel it when it comes to us. Let's not be afraid to receive each day's surprise, whether it comes to us as sorrow or as joy It will open a new place in our hearts, a place where we can welcome new friends and celebrate more fully our shared humanity." - Henri Nouwen
"I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy."
"Perfect happiness is a beautiful sunset, the giggle of a grandchild, the first snowfall. It's the little things that make happy moments, not the grand events. Joy comes in sips, not gulps." - Sharon Draper
"Find joy in everything you choose to do. Every job, relationship, home... it's your responsibility to love it, or change it." Chuck Palahniuk
"Every breath we take, every step we make, can be filled with peace, joy and serenity." - Thich Nhat Hanh
"I write about the power of trying, because I want to be okay with failing. I write about generosity because I battle selfishness. I write about joy because I know sorrow. I write about faith because I almost lost mine, and I know what it is to be broken and in need of redemption. I write about gratitude because I am thankful - for all of it." - Kristin Armstrong
"Service which is rendered without joy helps neither the servant nor the served. But all other pleasures and possessions pale into nothingness before service which is rendered in a spirit of joy." Annonymous
"A thing of beauty is a joy forever: its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness." - John Keats
"When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself." - Tecumseh
"Joy, feeling one's own value, being appreciated and loved by others, feeling useful and capable of production are all factors of enormous value for the human soul." - Maria Montessori
"When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight." - Khalil Gibran
"It is only in sorrow bad weather masters us; in joy we face the storm and defy it." - Amelia Barr
"We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves." Buddha
"Joy in looking and comprehending is nature's most beautiful gift." - Albert Einstein
"Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain." - Joseph Campbell
Ending it with my favorite quote on Joy and what I am trying to accomplish and let you know today, as well.
"We will be more successful in all our endeavors if we can let go of the habit of running all the time, and take little pauses to relax and re-center ourselves. And we'll also have a lot more joy in living." - Thich Nhat Hanh
Several stylish ladies joined my first linkup of the year. If my favorite outfits below indicate, 2018 will be a stylish year for these ladies - several of which are my blogging buddies I have done multiple collaborations with. Cheers to a Glam and Fashionable 2018!!
Whether she layered with a teddy grey vest or added a black leather moto jacket on top, Chrissy is girly yet edgy and sexy in that 'Gorgeous Floral'. And her Malbec White House Black Market pumps are little jewelry for her feet.
Polka dots on her pumps and Swiss dots on her dress. Sarah is dotted to perfection in her ruffly 'Little Black Dress' paired with classic little black pumps.
It takes someone bold, stylish and with a great physique to wear a mesh camisole with a sexy bra underneath. Thankfully Christine's got it. Her 'All Black French Chic Party Night Outfit' is stunning and I swear she could have walked right into the Golden Globes' red carpet this year, especially since her ensemble was topped with with a tuxedo blazer.
My friend Kellyann severs us 'Leopard with a Side of Plaid' paired with a cream puffer vest and matching cute pom beanie hat. Layers done perfectly for a chilly but not too cold day.
I shared my many grey sweater dresses in my "Currently, January 2018" post on last week's Thursday Moda and gorgeous Shannon has on the prettiest 'Pearly' sweater dress which is grey, bold, oversized and fun.
Laurie is always a class act. She shows her girly+sophisticated side in this 'Fit and Flare Skirt'. I am a huge fan of a pretty floral midi skirt, especially if paired with a white blouse or white tee.
Now join the 2nd linkup of 2018. Happy New Year!!
So many great quotes. Feel better, Ada, and rest up!

Oh man, Ada, I am so sorry that you are still struggling to get back to 100%. I think our bodies have this way of telling us to slow down. And then we take a brief rest, but it's not enough, because our bodies will say, "Nope. Not enough. Still sick. Rest more." It is so hard to slow down and take the breaks we need. But it is so important that we do so! I do hope you feel better soon, my friend. Sending much healing energy your way and lots of joy!
