Thursday Moda #95: Kicking It for New Year's Eve in Skirts and Heels.
Welcome to the 95th and last Thursday Moda of 2017. Hard to believe that a bright, shiny, sparkling New Year is just 4 days away! So on that note, Happy 2018 to all! Do you have plans for the big night?! What will you be wearing?! Well, stay tuned and read on because I got on an outfit suited for New Year's Eve, once again with a mini skirt and a top tucked in - just like yesterday's outfit - but unlike yesterday's dressy, fancy New Year's Eve look, today's outfit is a little bit more casual though I still wore some heels and lots of texture.
Today my Co-Host is a woman I am proud to call my friend, someone I have been friends with and kept in touch with a lot over the last 1.5 years. I am talking about SHELBEE from Shelbee On the Edge. Dear Shelbee and I have collaborated more than I have collaborated with anyone else in 2017, including all the 6 collabs in "The Holiday Series", all the 3 collabs in "The September Issue" as well as my annual "Blog Birthday Celebration". Plus Shelbee has two weekly linkups herself "Spread the Kindness" on Tuesdays and "On The Edge" on Fridays and I have co-hosted both a handful of times. Shelbee too has been my co-host a couple of times in 2017. It was only fitting that since 2017 is coming to an end and the 95th linkup is the last Thursday Moda of the year, Shelbee would be my co-host today, too. From our growing blogging friendship, to our evolving styles, all the way to our penmanship this year, I am happy and proud to call this lovely and fun woman, my friend! Also, we are so happy to wear our skirts and heels to kick off a fun New Year's Eve night of celebrating and drinking some bubbly. Our outfits are dressy yet not too fancy, put-together and sexy without being exposed at all.
THE TEXTURED NEW YEAR'S EVE OUTFIT.
Texture. Texture. Texture. Your New Year's Eve Outfit should have at least a little bit (or a lot) of texture, plus a touch of sparkle, a fun cocktail ring and a bold lipstick. My Textured New Year's Eve Outfit is made up of Velvet (sweatshirt is by Target), Corduroy (skirt is by Loft), Patterned Tights (by Old Navy) and Velvet+Satin (pumps are by Target). I also added a touch of sparkle and fancy with my Red+Black Stone Bracelets, Gold-Tone Pave Rose Cocktail Ring and the Pink+Black Stone Earring Studs (Target also - shocking, I know lol). Also, since it is New Year's Eve, bring out the hair accessories: barrettes, hair pins, headbands and bows should be in full force. I added a White Patterned Bow to my ponytail. And that is how you dress up a fancy velvet sweatshirt with a puffy sleeve. In actuality both the corduroy skirt and velvet sweatshirt are pretty casual but the blush velvet+satin ankle-strap pumps, automatically dress them up. Essentially Shelbee did the same thing (dressing up her fun, sexy pencil skirt). She paired black with a bold color - red (like I did with my own bold colors - marigold or mustard). So, do you like this mini skirt and sweatshirt look for New Year's Eve?! Would you wear it?!
Identical Black Velour Pullover Sweatshirt (on Sale + it is Amazing!) // Identical Mustard Button-Front Corduroy Skirt (on Clearance!) // Similar Zirconia Stone Silver+Pink Mini Studs // Similar Bracelet w/ Square Black Stones // Similar Dark Red Beaded Bracelet // Similar Gold-Tone Crystal Pave Flower Ring // Very Similar Diamond-Patterned Black Tights // Identical Two-Tone Ankle-Strap D'Orsay Pumps (also come in Black with Red) // Gorgeous Feather Bow Barrette (perfect for the Holidays, especially New Year's Eve) // Identical Smashbox Lipstick in "High Stakes" (mine is like a cinnamon shade) - I just got this lipstick in a PR package and I love it, first time ever trying Smashbox lipstick. This type of lipstick comes in over 25 colors and I want more (I am a lipstick junkie lol).
I hate the quality of these photos guys and I do apologize. Of course outdoor light is the best, but this Winter especially I will be taking more photos inside at home because it has been freezing. The last week or so our temps have been below zero, reaching as low as -5 degrees (which is about -20 degrees Celsius which is crazy cold!!).
Vivian made me this colorful bracelet at her preschool. She calls it my charm bracelet since it has a few charms. All the charms and beads are plastic and she did such a great job for being as young as she is. She takes the creative gene after me.

Today's Fabulous Thursday Moda Co-Host is Shelbee On the Edge.
I mentioned about a month ago that I happen to love pairing red+black for the Holidays and Shelbee feels the same way. Red is my favorite color. Just like in today's outfit, Shelbee has worn a lot more red and black looks lately. These 3 outfits in the collage below, are some of my favorite recent outfits of hers and they all happen to feature gorgeous red coats. The plaid one is so Christmasy, the colorblocked moto jacket is edgy and the fur-hooded coat reminds me of a retro Red Riding Hood.
From Shelbee's Mouth:
"Shelbee on the Edge is a fashion and lifestyle blog where I share real stories and real style from the northern reaches of New York State where the summers are short and the winters are long, snowy, and so cold that the rock salt freezes. Trying to be stylish in this sort of climate has its challenges, but I like to work my magic and provide inspiration to women everywhere to look great, feel great, and live their best possible lives. I provide a judgment-free zone while doing my best to throw kindness around me like confetti. I encourage you all to do the same! Wishing everyone so many blessings and good fortune in the new year! You both look wonderful Ada! I just adore Shelbee and her edgy style - she's so cool and so kind! Just like you my friend! You are right, you both look sexy without being over exposed, I call that classy. I need to own that velvet sweatshirt, I clicked the link and it said it's out of stock online but it looks like a store near me has it so I am going TODAY. I'll tell you Ada, Target needs to work with you because you showcase the best peices by them and they look so much better on you than online.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year my stylish friend!
