Thursday Moda #20 with Red Stripes and Adorable Tots.
Welcome to week 20 of Thursday Moda. Today, my co-host is WHITNEY from Whitney A la Mode, a Michigan blogger just like myself. Whitney and I are joined by two adorable toddler girls. I of course have my daughter Vivi and she has her one and a half year old niece Eloise, with her. Whitney and I styled our Red+White Striped Peplum Tanks from Old Navy, for you today. I guess we both must have had 4th of July-inspired looks in mind because we paired the tank top with blue bottoms and white shoes. Navy Patterned Shorts for me and Blue Jeans for Whit. I also have on Off White/Cream Fringe Sandals while Whitney chose Classic White Converse. Her Gorgeous Niece Eloise is coordinated in her own Beautiful Red+White Strawberry Dress and Converse. Funny thing is I ordered that same pretty dress for Vivian. I wanted Viv's outfit to match mine more but she chose her own clothes that day. We are both doing stripes and white in some form, though.
I have been following Whitney's blog for over two years now and a year ago we met on her hometown of St. Joseph, MI. Whitney has fabulous style which is classic, feminine, chic and a little preppy (look at the collage on the very bottom of this post, for more). Whitney is also part of The Blended Blog - which is just that, a blended blog of over a dozen stylish women from all over United States and even Canada. Also, on Fridays, Whitney does a great series in which she collaborates with three other bloggers. It is like a Style Swap (here is her latest).
My look turned out to be lots of fun thanks to the short shorts which show off my long legs and those fun fringe block heel sandals which I love. I did some subtle pattern-mixing. It is hard to tell but my shorts have a very small Red+White Floral Pattern on them which looks like tiny cherry blossom. They are also from Old Navy and they are so comfortable with an elastic draw-string waist. I decided to wear two of the three pieces from my latest Rocksbox set but the necklace only survived these photos. The bottom (druzy) stone fell off the chain unfortunately. I did like the necklace and the earrings but I didn't care for the cuff I was sent in this time. I couldn't adjust it to my tiny wrist. I like that the Iridescent Abalone Earrings were in darker colors and had lots of dark blue in them which matched my shorts. I had a hard time having Viv pay attention or concentrate for pictures but we managed to get a few - laughing, giggling, playing on the bicycle and whatnot. All in all, the outfit and shoot turned out cute. =)
Not only does Vivian's lime green bow match her dress perfectly, so does her little plastic chair.

In case you missed it, I shared yesterday my favorite dresses from Nordstrom's Anniversary sale which starts today for all their card holders. There will be more of those posts with other favorite Nordstrom picks in the coming week.
This week's featured blogger is DAWN LUCY from Fashion Should Be Fun - a blog name I adore. Dawn Lucy's style is always perfect and so is this Classy and Sexy Karina Red Dress which she took from night to day, first in a dressy head-to-toe red look and later with a classic sleeveless chambray knotted as a top layer and such cute strappy sandals. Dawn Lucy recently turned 50 and this teacher is quite the fabulous dresser. Dawn Lucy is part of " My Refined Style" Collaboration each month with several 40+ ladies and runs her own successful linkup every Friday - Fun Fashion Friday. The name of her linkup totally suits Dawn! Make sure you follow her if you haven't done so yet.
'The Slice is Right' for Shauna and myself. The watermelon-slice handbag with her matching Kelly Green Pleated Dress are both gorgeous and perfect for July.
Earlier this Spring I missed out on the perfect 'Tassel Tee' which was also gray and very similar to Lydia's. Pairing it with a classic black skirt was ideal and her shoes are gorg!
Shannon's 'Summer Hat' is a beautiful neutral and very reasonable accessory from KMart. She chose the perfect ladylike, feminine outfit with it - so glam and ready for a day at a horse race.
Candace's 'Bottom Line' is a Fun and Sexy, Mod Paisley Shift paired with stunning accessories and jewelry.
Thursday Moda Co-Host: Whitney A La Mode.
Whitney is a fan of classic pieces and classic neutrals like black+white (as the collage below shows). Check out her blog for more. These are just a few of my favorites from her this Summer.
From Whitney's Mouth:
"Whitney shares her thoughts over at Whitney Ć la mode. She is a French teacher with a passion for fashion, her cat, strawberry pie, the Mitten State and either a glass of red wine or a cup of coffee (depending on the time of day). Whitney Ć la mode is mostly a personal style blog with a sprinkle of lifestyle posts. In English, we often use "Ć la mode" to order ice cream with our dessert. However, in French, "Ć la mode" means in style. Please join Whitney on her journey in becoming a bit more "Ć la mode!
