Spring Bohemian: Embroidery, Fringe and Pom Poms.
Happy Monday everyone! It is the last Monday before Memorial Day and before Spring is over, I came up with a themed outfit week, for you all. If you remember last Fall, DEBBIE from Fashion Fairy Dust and I got together for a week of Outfits that were Bohemian themed. You can read those posts here, here and here. So on Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week, we paired up again to show you our Spring Bohemian styles. I will have some Boho-inspired looks on Tuesday and Thursday too so welcome by each day to see what I am styling and how I interpret Boho for Spring. Debbie is the queen of Relaxed Boho Styles and such a specialist at layering too (as today's fun casual outfit also shows). Make sure you stop by Debbie's to see all the awesome details on her outfit today and all the other fun looks she is wearing lately. =)
Today's look is what I would call Dressy Bohemian and something I would wear to my job. As you can see, I titled it "Embroidery, Fringe and Pom Poms". I actually did wear this to work (the hat was on for just the drive though while the heels stayed on for the first 3 hours but I was mostly sitting at my desk - true story). What makes this Bohemian for starters is this fun Elephant-Print, Black+White Dress from Target which I got recently on clearance (they also have a blouse version which is too cute). The dress has several Boho elements: the shape of it is Bohemian, the neckline, the embroidery and the mini pom poms adorning the sleeves' hems. Besides the dress, the suede shoes with the fringe and the tassels in the laceup style are definitely inspired by the 70s and an oversized fedora is often synonymous with boho. I punched up my B+W Shift Dress with accessories I carefully chose in Blue and Red since this is the week before Memorial Day and all (a little subtle patriotism). My shoes, bag and lips are red. While the large pom charm (on the bag), one of the necklaces, a couple of bracelets, my earrings and my hat are blue (either in deep navy or in bright turquoise). Plus, the little feather on the fedora matches in texture with the fury pom charm. And both my cross-body bag and my stilettos have tassels on them. It is little details like these that can make or break an outfit, don't you think? I loved how this outfit turned out overall and would wear it similarly again and again.
The Details:
Adding the large pom charm to the bag made it fun and it worked so well with the bag's oversized tassel. It is like the bag has two charms. The red of the shoes and the red of the bag couldn't have matched better and I didn't have to try hard. My hat and pom charm were a perfect pair, too. I mixed a set of turquoise beads with some white+silver for a small arm party. And if you look carefully (second photo below) I layered a very dainty bar necklace by Gorjana with a bold Pendant (blue stone) Necklace by Kendra Scott both of which are part of my current set of Rocksbox.
