Edgy and Cozy in Target Layers.
I mentioned a trip to Target the other day. I wanted to look for some things for me and for some Holiday outfits for Vivian. I originally picked up 6 or 7 things for me, but was good and only ended up purchasing three: this duster plaid dress, some booties and espadrille flats (all on sale). I bought 2 Holiday dresses, an outfit and a set of pajamas for Vivian, though. I have seen these long hi-lo duster shirt-dresses and really wanted to try this one from Target myself, plus it is Plaid and in Black+White, which I love. I am not sure I pull off this style well though, you tell me?! Or maybe I am not too crazy about the dress layered up into a cozy Fall Look (which you can see each layer on the collage above). What do you think? Does the Duster Dress look OK for Fall? I think it would look super adorable on its own for Summer. I would belt it and wear some cute sandals with it.
So for a brisk cold day yesterday, I layered a Lilac (almost a Light Gray) Cardigan underneath the Edgy Plaid Shirt-dress by Target and layered an Olive Green Puffer Vest over it. Last I added a Cozy Burgundy Scarf, also from Target and I was warm enough. I received this scarf as a gift this month, but I will talk more about it on another post. I love it though, since I am a huge fan of infinity knit scarves and already own a couple. I kept most of my outfit monochromatic between my dress, cardigan, booties and bag and added two of this Fall's biggest colors (two colors I happen to love) Olive *Dried Herb* and Burgundy *Marsala*.
Black+White Plaid, Hi-Lo Duster Shirt-Dress: Mossimo by Target (New) (very similar in gingham, love this), (similar hi-lo option by Madewell in a knee-length), (gorgeous dressy option by Sam Edelman, my favorite), (similar in a mini length by Express, best deal, love this).

Olive Green Puffer Vest: Macy's (New) (very similar, best deal, also comes in purple), (gorgeous camouflage option by North Face, on sale, love this), (suede+sherpa option, my favorite), (utility option, greatt deal, love this).
Burgundy/Marsala Ribbed Knit Infinity Scarf: Target (New & Gifted) (very similar by F21, best deal), (very similar, great deal), (gorgeous open-weave option by Target, comes in 6 colors, love this), (similar marled option, my favorite).
Silver Small Dangly Earrings w/ Baby Pink Beads: Meijer's (similar gold-tone earrings by Lauren Conrad, best deal), (similar cluster earrings, great deal, love these), (w/ pink+gold beads by Swarovski, my favorite).
Large Silver Faux Leather Tote: H&M (similar by Cole Haan, on huge sale, my favorite), (similar by Nordstrom, best deal, also comes in taupe, love this), (gorgeous option by MK, Splurge).
Black, Pointy Toe Booties w/ Kitten Heels: Borrowed from Mom (very similar by JC Penney, best deal), (similar in suede by Adrienne Vittadini, love these), (gorgeous leather option by Sam Edelman, my favorite), (similar by Ivanka Trump, Splurge, also come in dark burgundy, love these).

I really like how you layered this for fall. The dress would also be cute in the summer with sandals. I love infinity scarves too! Also, thank you so much for always being so supportive on my blog. I really do appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteI recognize that scarf ;) I think I would style this dress with a denim jacket and maybe belted with a scarf. My favorite of it is with the scarf! I was also thinking a military jacket would be cute, too! I love that it is longer in the back, very cute!

I love this dress! So on trend and fun to layer. You've done a great job styling it with your cute boots. Target is always a dangerous place for me! You go in planning to buy one thing and walk out with three!

Ahhh, lucky you! Little jaunts to Target!! This is going to sound pathetic, but living overseas one of the things I miss most is quick little runs to Target. Don't take them for granted! You are lucky!
