The Blended Blog Asks, July - Vacation edition.

The first Monday of each month the lovely bloggers of The Blended Blog have this fun little lifestyle questionnaire that they do. Since it is July and we are in the heat of Summer (literally), today's post is Vacation-themed and I love it. I am writing it as I am currently doing my mini 4-day staycation at home. But it will be back to work on Thursday after 4th of July. What are you ladies up to?! Is any of you vacationing this week, if so where?!

1. Yes, I will at the end of this month. It will be short though, 4 days, 4 nights. That is all we can afford this year but better than nothing.

2. Oh I wish I could say do nothing but relax. Clearly when I am on vacation all I do is relax and try to keep the hotel room neat, but as much as I try to not over-pack for some reason I always do lol. This time around besides packing 4 swimsuits (one for each day) I am thinking two pairs of shorts, a t-shirt, two tanks, a maxi dress, a short dress, a romper, a cardigan or kimono, a beach hat, couple of statement earrings, couple of colorful bracelets, a pair of dressier sandals and a pair of flip-flops is all I plan on packing (besides the unmentionables and a little bit of makeup too). I will try to keep Vivian's wardrobe to a minimum, too. Wish me luck. I will keep you posted as to what I will pack, in reality.

3. We usually do a yearly family vacation in Michigan and sometimes we go in July and sometimes in early to Mid August. I do prefer July though since the weather in Michigan in August can't really be trusted. Like last year when we went the end of July through early August, we had a couple of chilly days and the rest were nice (we were gone for like 9 days). But the previous year we were mostly stuck inside the hotel room and the indoor pool, since it was so cool and we also went in August.

4. Yes and No. I have been to a couple of cruises (over a decade ago) and loved them. It was a great, fun experience and I had fun dressing up for the Captain's dinner too. But over the last two years there have been so many accidents, incidents and horror stories in cruises that I don't know if I want to go to another one, ever again.

5. I love our annual Michigan Family Vacations. It has become a tradition for 4 years now, where we go with my parents, too. Every summer we go in one of the many beaches in Michigan. This is the Great Lakes State after all. We have gone to places like Saint Joseph last year, Grand Haven, etc. and this year we are going to Holland. We have never been but I hear great things.

6. Most memorable vacation was probably the first ever vacation I did to Europe after being in US for 6 years. It was mostly in Albania but I went and visited so many gorgeous places and stunning beaches there. I met a lot of new people and made many new friends too. I was young, it was August-September 2003 and it was great. As far as family vacations go, the vacation from last year stands out. We had a great time and also visited Indiana and Chicago a little bit.

7. Pack it all. Oops. I will do my best to pack light, this year.

8. Hotel. Though I'd love to try a condo or rent a house, sometimes.

9. We love eating at local, non-chain restaurants and trying traditional dishes of the area. Our favorite restaurant last year at Saint Joseph was "The Stray Dog". We went like 5 tim es and loved it. I also love to eat a lot of seafood and local, fresh-caught fish while on Vacation.

10. I prefer warm destinations but sometimes in the Summer time I wouldn't mind trying a cold destination like a mountain resort, for a change.

  2. I love trying out non- chain restaurants too; though we will check out a chain restaurant if that particular chain is nowhere to be found around us at home.

  3. I definitely prefer warm destinations. When I was 13 I went on an educational cruise with the school around the Mediterranean and the food was disgusting...it has put me off going on another one! Thanks for linking up!
