Thursday Moda #110: Trying Something Different.

I cannot believe I have been running my linkup for one hundred and ten weeks now. There have been many many sleepless nights and countless of hours of photo-taking, editing, selecting each week's favorite looks (linked from the week before), some computer and HTML troubles too, along the way, etc. etc. With that said, for today's linkup I am 'Trying Something Different' - a different look to be exact. I am styling a Kimono Duster, the long ones that look like robes. And my Burgundy/Wine Floral Silky Duster looks exactly like a robe. Though it is meant to be worn out, as a third piece or a layering piece - exactly what I did here - this Kimono Duster can totally double as a robe to lounge at home or wear in the bedroom.

HOW  TO   STYLE  A  KIMONO  DUSTER  IN  A  DRESSY  WAY.
First of all, I purchased this Floral-Print Burgundy Kimono Duster around the Christmas Holidays and I am only wearing it now! In my defense, we have had the Winter from hell so cardigans, heavy sweaters and jackets have been more proper to layer on top. Even when I took these photos it was only about 38 degrees (and windy) out. You must know I do not own or wear a lot of kimonos, not even the regular ones (waist-length, let's say). I probably own only two kimonos. I like them on other people and always wanted to buy a few but I never quite found ones I love. Purchasing this duster kimono on a whim, because it also looked so fun and different on Target's website (it is from their "A New Day" line) it is something I normally wouldn't go for. This duster is not my typical item of clothing and I also figured that styling it, would be a little out of my comfort zone. I know for sure I will be wearing it quite a bit once our weather warms up (let's say late April through June). I can picture it with skinny jeans, cropped skinny pants, shorts and even a mini denim skirt. Actually wearing this with skinny pants and a tee is the easiest way to style it.

But this time around - for a work-related evening out in Detroit - I went for a dressy AND bold look, that despite the pattern-mixing between the duster and the skirt, is still quite monochromatic, since the main color is burgundy or bourdeaux. I paired the kimono duster with a Silky Matching Burgundy Camisole (also by Target's "A New Day" brand) and my Navy+Teal Watercolor Knee-Length A-Line Skirt by Express (I have had for many years). I needed to wear some dressy type of shoe and decided to go for my Matchy Burgundy Low-Heel Mary Jane Pumps by Who What Wear. For jewelry I chose a Circle Gold-Tone Choker by Express and my New Crystal Pave Square Drop Earrings by Loft. Last but not least, I love that I chose a Bold and Bright Fuchsia Lipstick. It looks so good with this look! What do you think?! How would you style a Kimono Duster?! Do you own one?! If you want to see how to wear kimonos and dusters, look no further than Debbie's Blog. My stylish friend Debbie always rocks kimonos, probably once weekly. She owns a lot of them and wears them perfectly in different outfits.

Earlier, in the Winter, I styled this same Wine Silk Camisole in another monochromatic look (Original Post). And, a week from today, you will see that Lace-Trimmed Black Faux Leather Skirt, styled here on Thursday Moda, too.

Last Week's Favorites have some things in common: Florals (always big for Spring), Yellow - the IT Color of Spring 2018 and a color I am falling in love with lately and Red Shoes. These ladies nailed it! Thank you to all for linking up!
Andrea's adorable dress is exactly that: "Gingham and Sunshine". Not only is her dress lovely but I love the nude wedges, her side ponytail and matching yellow flower bouquet.
Red poppies all over her flirty ruffled dress paired with matchy red booties are lovely, but it is also Sheela's amazing writing that makes her blog unique, not just her style. In this post she is 'Desensitising' her past and always being brave and open about it.
The lovely ladies of J's Touch of Style, Jodie, Nancy and Charlotte are adorable in 'Styling Yellow Items' and they each chose prints for their outfits too. My favorite look is Jodie's with her floral pants+yellow cardi.
Amber is a 'Classic' in her tan-colored trench coat over her white+black chevron A-line dress and matching beige leather tote. Her gorgeous red pumps match the red lipstick.

HAVE A LOVELY WEEKEND AHEAD, BEAUTIES!! I WISH SPRING SHOWS ITS HEAD THIS WEEKEND LOL.
