Grey, Olive and Burgundy for the Holidays.

When planning your outfits for December, of course silver, green and red come to mind as far as colors go (they are all Christmas-y). But alternatives to these colors would be grey, olive and burgundy, like in my outfit today. And I will be honest, I am not so happy about how this outfit looks in my photos. It didn't photograph well at all.  I think the kind of thick sweater doesn't look as good tucked into the skirt as it did IRL. It is definitely the case of those looks that look way better in real life than they do in photos. But it was so cute in person and I felt incredible, girly and like a fun mom wearing it and I think sometimes that is all we need. Vivian's teachers and school principal also complimented me on this.

THE  GREY  SWEATER.
This cowl-neck sweater is from Loft from early Fall and you may even still find it in some of the stores, on deep clearance. I love the mix of the two grey shades: heather grey and charcoal with the stripes in different widths. I also love the cowl-neck. But a part of me wished I sized up to a Medium for length. Loft currently has this heathered periwinkle cowl-neck sweater very similar to mine but a looser fit and quite longer which I prefer. I will definitely wear this sweater un-tucked most times but I wanted to show you an example of how to tuck sweaters into your skirts for Winter and more of these types of outfits are coming soon.

THE  CAMO  SKATER  SKIRT.
This Jacquard Olive+Hot Pink Camo-Print Skater Skirt is by Banana Republic, from almost two years ago. The thick jacquard material makes it perfect for the cold months and I love the subtle mix of olive with pink (to substitute bright green and red) and it is the girliest camo print I have ever seen. It almost looks like floral. The jacquard material also is perfect because it doesn't wrinkle as easily. The flared skater style of this skirt is adorable and very girly and the best part - pockets (duhh!). Asos has a very similar jacquard camo skater-style skirt with a metallic thread which makes it even more festive - it is beautiful, check out the link. They also have this pink camo trumpet skirt which is so much fun.

THE  SHOES  AND  ACCESSORIES.
First, let me warn you that during the Holiday season and through the Winter you will see my Burgundy Opaque Tights and Burgundy Pom Pom Sneakers a lot (these last ones, especially for dry, warm-ish days). Burgundy, merlot, malbec, bourdeaux, dark red, oxblood, wine - whatever you call this color - you have to admit it is the hottest color for Winter, perfect for the holiday season. I think these tights and sneakers which are both in wine paired perfectly and make the legs feel longer. I also love the athleisure appeal this look created. The Pom Sneakers by Massimo from Target are stunning and under 30 bucks, a huge steal! If you are looking for a similar much pricey version these ones are gorgeous too. The clutch is actually a faux leather makeup bag (purchased for 3 bucks!!) at the dollar aisle at Target. And let's face it, it is not a clutch at all, rather a little makeup pouch or organizer wallet but I made it work as a clutch, it is big enough for the essentials. Love the fun tassel. I accessorized with some Grey+Burgundy Studs (talk about matching) by Sugarfix via Target because #TargetDoesItAgain -- oh you know it! The White+Navy Patterned Bow Barrette is a canvas bow purchased via my friend JOURDYN on Instagram. I am her first ever customer, I got 8 canvas/linen bows in one purchase and I was very happy with them. The best part is that ALL the bows can be worn by either me or Vivi. Oh and in case you are wondering about my dark red luscious lipstick it's this one. I combined the "Intense Emotion" color (two coats) with the "Raging Beauty" color (one coat) on top.

There will be lots more Holiday Looks these last two weeks of December and the first week of January and lots more Home Decor too, so stay tuned. Also on Wednesday December 20th I got the 5th edition of The Holiday Series where we will be sharing Christmas Outfits and it is THE BIGGEST COLLABORATION yet with 15 of us participating! And December 21st's Thursday Moda is me and my two lovely co-hosts sharing more Festive Outfits! Thank you for reading and have a great week - the big last week before Christmas!

  1. Ada, you're right, how you feel in an outfit is really all that matters. I think it's nice to see different shades of holiday colors. I didn't realize that skirt was a fun camo print until you pointed it out, it's super cute! I hope you're staying warm my friend!

  3. Ada, you had me at camo skirt! I love it! And those pom pom sneakers are just too cute. Of course, your little green clutch has me swooning, too. I think it is a perfectly stylish outfit. But I hear you on those outfits that look way better in real life than they do in photographs. It happens to us all. It also happens to me where an outfit is kind of blah in real life and ends up being amazing in photographs. I don't know which scenario is better or worse! Thanks for joining my link up last week!
