Thursday Moda #88: 13 Ways to Wear Plaid, Now.

Happy Thursday you all. Today I am sharing with you 13 ways to wear Plaid for Fall and Winter, so basically the way to wear plaid now. You may have noticed too that I love plaid and even wore a plaid shirt on my previous post, as well as a dressier plaid peplum blouse on last week's Thursday Moda. Here are a bunch more stylish, fun ways to wear PLAID. How do you wear your plaid this season?!

SHIRTS:

Wear it underneath a shorter sweater or sweatshirt where the bottom of the shirt shows a little bit, as does the collar. Add more cozy, warm layers with a shearling vest on top and Hunters or some rain boots on your feet.

Wear it oversized - borrow from your husband like I did with mine or buy a boyfriend style - and knot it over leather-accented skinnies or leggings, with a rolled up scarf layered with a flower necklace and pattern-mix it with some leopard. Also, dress it up with pumps.

Layer it under a long vest, tucked into a skirt and pair it with simple canvas sneakers.

Wear it to work and tuck it into dressy black pants, paired with loafers. Add a layered long pearl+crystal necklace on top and a bomber leather jacket.

DRESSES:

Wear it as a shirtdress buttoned all the way up, add a sparkly statement necklace and pair it with black opaque tights and some python booties for pattern-mixing.

Wear it as a shirtdress again but dressed up with bright bow stilettos and a necktie scarf.

Again as a shirtdress with the holiday Christmasy vibes but pair it with black patterned or black opaque tights and neutral laceup/ghilly booties. Also swap that necktie scarf for a leather bow choker.

Wear it for New Year's Eve, a Holiday Wedding or a Fancy Christmas (Company) Party by pairing it with fun accessories like bold, crystal statement earrings, a gorgeous magazine-cover clutch, peep-toe satin pumps, a few bracelets + cocktail rings, red lipstick and 40s retro wavy curls on your hair. Speaking of this outfit, this is one of MY MOST FAVORITE OUTFITS EVER that I have ever posted in 6 years that I have been blogging. Yes, this plaid, black+white a-line cocktail dress is stunning but I did such a great job styling it, didn't I?!

All the above plaid dresses are perfect to wear during November and December especially (in particular the green shirtdress and the red shirtdress) because they basically spell Holidays!

SCARVES:

Wear it wrapped as a triangle-style over a buttoned long cozy cardigan and skinny jeans paired with slip-on sneakers. Pattern mix it with a fair isle pattern for that cozy, Wintery vibe.

Wear it as the European loop over a sweater dress with opaque tights and ruched boots. Accessorize with a warm+fuzzy pom beanie.

Wear it equestrian style with riding-style leggings, oxford booties, peacoat and a wool fedora. Double dose the plaid by pairing a chiffon plaid blouse (underneath the coat) with a warm wool plaid scarf laying down on top of your coat.

Wear it as a triangle bib-style blanket scarf with the roll-tab Lush tunic blouse from Nordstrom (that everyone has LOL) and flared blue jeans. Also pair it with a cozy sweater poncho for some comfortable, street-chic, warm, casual layers.

Wear it as a poncho, belted on top of a fitted striped dress and match the colors of your plaid blanket scarf with the color of your tights, shoes or bag for a full style impact.

So, how are you wearing plaid this season?! I realize I didn't include any plaid bottoms (I used to own some plaid pants and had one or two plaid skirts) but I will share my windowpane skirt and windowpane pants soon in two holiday looks.

Last weekMary and I had a very successful linkup with A TON of gorgeous outfits linked (about 90 of them). You all loved my Wine+Black+Grey Peplum Tunic Blouse by Loft - don't worry, I will style that pretty peplum top on the blog again soon, it is perfect for the holidays after all. I had such a hard time choosing favorite looks from last week that I selected MANY of you. 4 of my "The Holiday Series" collaborators are also featured this week - they all look so cute!
This week's featured blogger is the lovely, super girly and just beautiful LIZZIE from Lizzie in Lace who linked up the most gorgeous, girly and elegant neutrals+pastels outfit featuring a Maxi Skirt paired with a Chevron Sweater plus the prettiest grey clutch and greyish-taupe booties. Another great thing about this post besides the gorgeous outfit and pretty pictures, is that Liz shares a day in her life as a blogger and it is an interesting read. I want her featured outfit head to toe, seriously every single piece. It is stunning. Outfits like these are the norm on Lizzie's blog since girly, lacy, pretty pieces, dresses and skirts make up most of her everyday outfits she posts. As a matter of fact she has been the featured blogger here before. She is a stunner. I love her Instagram account too. Everything is so picture-perfect, dainty, feminine and gorgeous!

Nancy's 'Classic Tweed Jacket' has Chanel vibes all over it. I love that she dressed it down with a dark denim pencil skirt and comfortable knee-high, flat, black boots.
Roxanne's post shows us '6 Boots for Fall' every fashionista should own and I need some red boots and combat boots by the way. But how cozy is her outfit with that gorgeous beanie, perfect for our weather this week.
Tatiana is 'All in Dots'. I just love her gradient pom pom sweater so much and how fabulous are those peplum-hem pants. She can dress them up beautifully for the Holidays.
'How to Style an Oversized Plaid Blazer'?! My friend Christine has the answers. Her outfit is modern, cozy, sexy, street-chic and mom-friendly all in one. Love her OTK boots and floppy hat.
Kristin has a thing for 'Fall Vests' and this nude puffer one is gorgeous and looks so great with her laceup winter white sweater. This is a Fall uniform for me too, not just for Kristin.
Chrissy shared 'Just a Few' casual outfits on this post, but clearly this one with the mixed media plum sweatshirt was a winner for me. The cozy Fall vibes and pretty Fall colors warm me up.

If you like to ever co-host for me, I am looking for co-hosts for November through January, most dates are available. It is FREE for you to co-host and a great exposure to your blogs, as well. Shoot me an e-mail (it is under my contact link on this page) and we can work together!

  8. OMG we're so in sync! One of my linked posts is me in a cropped plaid shirt over a dress! Great minds think alike! I particularly like your green plaid dress. That's fabulous on you. I like plaid when it comes in less obvious colours (it's so often in red or blue) and the green is really distinctive and fun.
