Happy New Year 2017!

This post is coming really late but I wrote it on Friday so I hope that counts. LOL I hope you made the last weekend of 2016 an unforgettable one as we continue through the festivities and the celebrations of a New Year on Sunday Jan 1st.

By the way, a Holiday Home Tour is coming really late (but better late than never) on January 1st, for New Year's. We keep our tree at least until Jan 6th - when you are supposed to - so it's OK.

Hours left before 2017, a year filled with firsts and bests. Happy, grateful and blessed that God gave me good health and peace of mind each day. Happy, grateful and blessed for a little girl who tells me "I love you more" every day and kisses and hugs me daily. Happy, grateful and blessed for a fantastic family close by or far away, from my husband to everyone else who gives me reasons to smile. ...But I also want to take a moment of silence because there was so much loss and terrorism in the world this year. Let 2017 be the year that will put sense in everyone's minds and the year that will make love not hate reign everyone's hearts!!! Live each day as if you had no clue what happens next and take it easy because if you rush you might miss out on those small moments that make a huge difference. Happy 2017 to all my family and friends, to all my fans and followers too!

Take a leap of faith and jump into a New Year with pride, bravery and joy!

Thursday Moda #44: Maroon Sweater Dress from Day to Night.

Happy Thursday you all! Isn't my little girl adorable in the photo above? I just love this photo of us. Like mommy, Vivian loves accessories: shoes, hair bows, jewelry, purses - she loves it all. Like me, she also loves dresses, skirts and such. If she could wear a dress or tutu every day, she would lol. Anyway, we have a lot to cover today, including lots of pics so read on...

Posting slowly but surely, I am continuing the December of dresses with this Sweater Dress I have already worn 3 times this month. On today's post I will show you how I styled it on the same day (sometime last week) for day with the military jacket, and for night with the watercolor blouse underneath. As you can see my accessories are almost identical on both outfits: these New Gorgeous Velvet Block Heel Pumps, a Bold Crystal Necklace, a Fun Orange Stone Ring and Cranberry Red Lipstick. The purses are different each time and my layering piece, also. Speaking of my Gorgeous Shoes, they are a much much affordable version of this Aquazzura pair.

Coincidentally, all of the Target pieces worn in both of these outfits were purchased on the same online order and look how they all worked out and paired great together for both the daytime and the nighttime look. This Maroon Fit+Flare Sweater Dress since it is sleeveless, is quite easy to layer. The color is perfect for Winter, especially around the holiday season. For daytime I paired it with this Fun, Double-Breasted Olive Military Blazer by Who What Wear and a Black Leather Crossbody Bag by Gap.

For the night look, I decided to layer (under the dress) this Gorgeous Floral Chiffon Watercolor, Long-Sleeve Blouse also by Who What Wear. There are 2-3 shades of Burgundy/Cranberry on this blouse that picked up the color of both the dress and the pumps. Since it is evening, I accessorized with a Black+Gold Sequined Mini Clutch. F.Y.I. I am wearing nude thin stockings because bare legs with the weather we have been having lately are no bueno. My nude tights could be exchanged for semi-opaque black tights or full opaque black tights or even fleece-lined tights, depending how cold it is outside. I do love how this dress looked both ways, especially the evening look. I just wish it was a tad longer. I am of average height but I do have long legs. Which of the two outfits is your fave?

With Christmas last week the linkup was light, but all 73 of you who linked brought your A-game and beautiful holiday style, as you can see below. My favorites run from a Lace LBD to a Pink+Cream Colorblocked Sweater, to a White Tuxedo Suit and everything in between. Thanks for the inspiration! Here is to many more fashionable entries and lots of stylish looks in 2017!
Lydia, in the linked post, presents you her 'New Year's Looks' and her beautiful long-sleeve lace LBD reminds me of the long-sleeve teal NY eve dress, I shared in my last post.
Rose's 'Sweater Dress' is so pretty with other coordinating soft colors - monochromatic but with a punch. She rocks the beanie and what an adorable clutch.
Debbie is wearing the popular 'Mock Turtleneck' layered under a pink+red buffalo plaid shirt, both paired with black ankle crops. Casual while put together.
Shannon is in 'Fur & Leather'. Her warm textured knee-length coat is gorgeous and I love the velvet cranberry choker.
The 'Power Suit' in white, still doesn't hide Ashley's femininity. The bold choker was a great modern addition.
Victoria's 'Holiday Style' mixes leopard, tulle, emerald green and fur all into one beautiful and girly glam outfit.

Now join the linkup and make some new friends!

New Year's Eve Looks - a Collaboration with 6 Bloggers.

Today, I am back with another collaboration with several stylish bloggers. From across America (Canada not just the States), we are showing you 6 ways to dress up or down for New Year's. Most of us did this New Year's eve collaboration last year, so I am glad us six got to do this again. These fashionistas are mostly staying casual on the big night this upcoming Saturday while I plan to dress up, totally. Sweaters, tulle skirts, red buffalo plaid, heels, gold sequins and even a sweatshirt, our looks couldn't be any more different. I love how Lee's and Linda's outfits are twinning in gold skinny sequined pants and cozy black sweaters. Read  on to see what all of us got planned this New Year's Eve and visit these ladies' blogs, along the way.

Emily from Darling Dearest
"Hi friends! I’m Emily from Darling, Dearest. The past couple of months have been the most hectic I’ve had, as I wrote my first book, a devotional! Because of that, I’m taking every second I can to rest, hopefully including New Years Eve! I plan on wearing a cozy, warm outfit like this one, perfect for a night in with my husband.  Happy New Years!"

"New Year's Eve is usually a night I dress up a lot for: a cocktail dress, sequins, heels, velvet, fur, bold jewelry, lots of texture. The last time I wore a real fancy dress for New Year's Eve was before I was pregnant, 5 years ago. Well, this year we will be ringing in 2017 at a fancy party dinner and I will be seen in a fun dress, for sure. I was trying different ones on and this teal, long-sleeve piece is dressy enough and has sparkly dots, especially perfect for New Year's Eve paired with jewel tones and red lips. Happy New Year's everyone!"

Sheela from Sheela Writes
"I was completely inspired by Jennifer Lawrence when she wore a sweater + ballerina skirt on the red carpet.  It was such an unexpected pairing that I had to give it a go myself.  Of course, it wouldn’t be a Sheela outfit without some tongue-in-cheek fun, now would it?  That baby blue sweater, you see?  That’s my winter PJ top :) oh, and my tulle skirt?  A super stretchy waistband makes it perfect for that New Year’s Eve dinner we’ve got planned."

Linda from A Labour of Life
"This year I am celebrating New Years in Nashville.  It is a huge outdoor celebration and sadly the temperature is expected to be cool.  I have searched my wardrobe for a party inspired outfit warm enough to watch Keith Urban ring in 2017.  I figure if I can handle the snow in Ottawa I can handle Keith in Nashville. This was my test outfit, I think it works."

Hey y'all, I'm Monica from Jersey Girl, Texan Heart.  This year for New Year's I'm deciding to relax a little bit and wear a casual look.  I usually dress up, but this year has been quite the hectic year I think I need to finish it off by being casual and taking a breather.  I hope everyone has a great New Year!

Lee from Wine and Couture
"I love dressing up for New Years.  I get to wear all my sparkle and glittery clothing!  It's the one time of year that going all out is expected.  These leggings are from Target last year and I have loved wearing them for over the top events.  I always pair my sparkle clothing with Brosway jewelry.  I hope you stop by my blog and see more of my fun New Years Outfit!  Follow on IG and Twitter."

I just bought this Mossimo Dress from Target. At first thought, it wouldn't be the first dress I'd choose for New Year's Eve but when I was trying potential NY Eve dresses the other day, I loved how this one looked. It is a great outfit for a fancy New Year's Eve dinner. This dress is in a teal jewel tone and the Swiss dots on it are sparkly. I paired it with another jewel tone - Royal Blue Pumps and some Black Tights in a small diamond pattern. I also went with a Sleek Satin Black Clutch. I added sparkle through all of my jewelry: a Silver Pave Collar Necklace, a Gray+Pave Crystal Bracelet, a Green+Burgundy Beaded Bracelet, a Gold-tone Brown Pave Bracelet, Gold Crystal Hoops, a couple of Colorful Rings and a Pearl and Gold Crystal Pave Mini Hair Barrette. What do you think of this NY Eve look? What will you be wearing for New Year's eve?
