Mom's Must Have Fall Items Series - Week 1 CARDIGANS.

This Summer, I paired up with Agi of Vodka Infused Lemonade to bring you some Must-Have Summer Pieces for a Summer Wardrobe. We included Shorts, Jeans, Plain White T-Shirts, Girly Tops & Maxi Dresses as our pics and each remixed them in different ways. I did a Day & a Night Look for each item. Check Out These Five Posts!!

This Wednesday, for the next several weeks in a row, I am pairing up with Heather of H&K Style Journey, for the Fall Series of what we both think as Must Have's for Moms. =)
For this first week, we chose to wear Cardigans. I think a Cardigan is a must-have piece year around, but especially for Fall they are necessary to wear. They can be both your layering piece as well as your topper or outter-wear for when it is little a cool out. And for colder, late Fall days you can layer them with heavier pieces or top them with a Blazer, Coat, Jacket or Scarf.
Here are 2 ways how I styled two Different Cardigans: one for Early Fall & one for later in the Fall.
This First Look is an early Fall Look. I figured while it is still warm out, you can wear your Shorts in the Fall. As long as you layer & cover your shoulders in a Cardigan. Yellow is an Awesome Color and I love it paired with Black+White. I think the pairing is Refreshing, Bright & Beautiful. While the Cardigan is definitely more of a Mustard, the Purse is a Deep Butter Yellow while the Ballet Flats have Bright, Neon Yellow Capped Toes. This is a Casual Mom Look - perfect for me - where I am Put-together while looking Chic & Preppy. The Gingham Shorts & Argyle Belt definitely bring out the little Prepster in me. And, for the first time I am showing/wearing my New Flats & my New Shorts. How do you like this Mustard Cardigan styled with Shorts?
Bright Mustard-Yellow, Long-Sleeve, Crew-neck Cardigan: The Limited.
White, Nylon-Stretch Camisole w/ Lace Trim: White House Black Market.
Black+White, Gingham, Cotton Shorts: Old Navy (New).
Yellow, Lime Green, Orange & Turquoise, Argyle, Nylon Belt: American Eagle.
Silver Chain, Dainty Necklace w/ Pear-shaped, Sparkly Stone, Fireball: White House Black Market.
Yellow & Cognac, Rectangle, Soft Leather Purse: Payless.
Nude Canvas & Patent Leather, Neon Yellow Cap-Toe Ballet Flats w/ Skinny Bows: Sam & Libby (New).

This second look pairs Horizontal Stripes with Vertical Stripes. Though the Cardigan has shorter sleeves, for later in the Fall let's say mid to late October, I can picture wearing this Outfit with a Trench Coat. I could have worn a Trench but since I am showcasing Cardigans for Fall today, I wanted you to see how I styled the Cardi. I love this Cardigan & the Pewter Sequins adorning the front. The Sequins of the Cardigan are picked up in the Matching Necklace & Earrings (which I love), as well as the Chain Strap & Locker of the Quilted Purse. While the Purse has a similar Cream/Oatmeal Color like the Sweater. I really wanted to wear my Nude Pumps with this Look and they would have looked much better with how long these Pants are. But I put this look together super quickly and snapped these photos in my bedroom without my parents looking. At the time I had these Loafers by. I love Loafers for Fall and I think Burnt Orange is a Great Fall Color, but yeah Pumps would have worked better, so pretend I am wearing them. LOL How do you like this Look otherwise?
Oatmeal/Cream Knit, Elbow-Sleeve Cardigan w/ Sequin Trim: The Limited.
White+Taupe, Stripped, Crew-neck T-Shirt: The Limited.
Black, Boot-Cut, Dressy Pants w/ Purple & Magenta Pinstripes: The Limited.
Real Gold, Tiny Drop Earrings w/ Square Cubic Zirconia Stones: The Limited.
Silver Necklace w/ Oval, Square & Rectangle Shaped, Smoke/Taupe Stones + Matching Bracelet: White House Black Market.
Cream, Neutral, Quilted Handbag w/ Dark Metal Chain Straps & Locket detail: The Limited.
Burnt Orange, Leather Suede Mocassins: Payless.
(WOW I am a walking ad for The Limited today, ain't I?)

And here is how Heather styled 2 of her Cardigans.
I Love the Simplicity of this Black+White Look & the Subtle Pattern Mixing. Plus Polka Dots & Leopard are 2 of my Most Favorite Patterns. Just like with my 1st Look, I can definitely see this as an Early Fall Outfit.
This is also a Black+White Look albeit more Casual, paired with Light-Wash, Deconstructed Jeans. With the Ankle Booties this Outfit would be perfect for later in the Fall.

Stop by next Wednesday to see what Heather & I are styling next?
And stay tuned for some Special Posts the rest of this week. Hope you enjoy them. =)

P.S. I am linking this post with Alison, Melaina, Savannah, Lindsey and Shanna.

  4. I especially like the first look since I don't typically wear shorts and cardigans. It's a nice transition from warm afternoons into cooler fall mornings/evening. Plus, I just love those shorts! In the second look I like the stripes mixing and the cardigan is fabulous! Looking forward to next week!
